Why study for CFA certification?
The CFA certification is a qualification for finance and investment professionals focusing on portfolio management, financial analysis of stocks, bonds and their derivatives. The program also provides knowledge in other areas related to the field, such as general accounting principles.
With the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam process, you can improve your skills by completing a rigorous course while earning valuable credentials that can help you pursue one of the highest-paying careers around.
CFA certification is internationally recognised and teaches you how to work with global capital markets as well as large banking and macroeconomic practices. It's safe to say that the CFA certificate adds a wide range of skills to your CV. In fact, it is often said that CFA graduates are an elite minority criteria. As a result, they are eligible for certain job titles aimed at those with a CFA certificate, such as investment analyst, portfolio manager, equity research analyst, financial advisor, and so forth.
What university degree is CFA useful for?
While the CFA certification is a gold standard, it should by no means be the last step in your academic career. One of the most common career paths for CFA graduates is to enter the banking industry. For this reason, many prefer to earn a Professional Banker Certificate as the next step in their banking career.
Alternatively, you can also earn an MBA degree, which makes a lot of sense alongside a finance degree like the CFA. In fact, the CFA Institute recently surveyed its 6,500 charter holders about MBA programs. It found that 86% of CFA graduates believe an MBA degree would be helpful to their career prospects, and 76% believe it would improve their job security.
The good news is that the CFA program teaches skills that go beyond finance, as candidates who do not want a full-time career in investment management can use these skills anywhere in government or business to manage money and organizations. Different universities in the UK offer different MBA programs, such as MBA in Global Financial Services or MBA in Finance and Banking.
What careers can studying CFA lead to?
If you’re looking towards a comfortable career in plush offices, banks, with excellent pay scales, then getting the CFA certificate is the right choice for you.
Here are some career options for those who undertake the CFA certification:
Corporate Financial Analyst
Accountant or Auditor
Relationship Manager/Account Manager
Institutional Fixed Income Sales Trader
Equity Derivatives Market Specialist
Equity Sales and Trading Compliance Officer
Institutional Global Equities Sales Trader
How does CFA help with CIPM?
The CFA Institute has created a Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) program that trains qualified investment performance professionals to meet the industry's growing need for ethical and experienced individuals who can manage large financial institutions. . The Institute is a leader in establishing standards such as Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) that address subcategories of performance measurement.
The CFA and Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) certifications are both rigorous courses, but they prepare you for different careers. The CFA course is more general and covers topics in investing across different financial instruments, while the CIPM course provides an in-depth look at investment performance measurement, including attribution analysis. This will allow you to enter an analyst career with accounting firms or related firms involved in investments where GIPS standards may be applicable, as well as those focused on ethics, such as Socially Responsible Investing.
It should be noted that entry into the CIPM is possible after completion of the CFA Certificate, as much of the CIPM Level 1 material is included in the CFA Level 3 syllabus, and the Institute has recently issued a policy that if you pass CFA Level 3, you will be admitted directly to the CIPM Expert Examination (Level 2) and the main examination (Level 1) will be waived.

Is 'CFA tutor wanted' a suitable title for my advert?
Although this is maybe not the worst bad opening line, we strongly recommend that you give it some more thought. What do you need? What are you trying to achieve? Think about what level you are and what you need to improve on, whether you need help with GCSE level guidance, or help with a University admissions letter, put it in your advert.
For example, a great opening for many of our clients could be: ‘CFA support required to help with Oxbridge Admissions Test’. The more details, the better the match!
