I love skiing and reading. Whenever I get the opportunity, I will walk the dogs up a mountain or two (1 more to go to complete the UK 3 peak challenge!) in the school holidays (unless it is ski season). Learning is essential, and all teachers should have this ethos to empathetic our learners. As a result, I am working towards an MBA - an ambition to achieve by the time I am ?? years old! :-)
Firstly, it is crucial with exam based subjects that a tutee should target qualified teachers (with QTS) as they have conversed with the current changes that have taken place with GCSE and A-Levels. They are aware of syllabus amendments and have a range of tools to support how to interpret command verbs within the exam.
I am a qualified teacher (with QTS) that has over 10 years leading several departments in Computing, ICT and Digital Media across a range of qualifications and exam boards. As a result of this and exam board work (working as an exam marker), I feel I understand what is required to pass the exams.
**UPDATE: Late afternoon/evening priority to GCSE learners and prefer supporting AL COMP SCI during free periods - due to scheduling existing teaching/tutoring commitments - please message with availability slots to see if compatible. The priority exam boards are OCR and CIE for COMP SCI (using Python) and GCSE Edexcel Foundation Maths/ Functional Skills (new and legacy specification.**
Main Subjects (Priority - Currently teach and tutor):
- GCSE Computer Science (OCR & CIE) - Focus on Python
- AL Computer Science (OCR & CIE) - Focus on Python
- GCSE/Functional Skills Maths (Edexcel Foundation Specialist Edexcel)
- OCR Level 1/2 Cambridge National in IT and iMedia
- Cambridge Technical Level 2/3 and BTEC in IT and Computing - again, focus on Python
- Secondary Checkpoint (CIE)
Being a qualified teacher (with QTS) over several years and still actively teaching, I have a wide range of tools and platforms that can be used to support the learning and success with the upcoming exams. I also work as a private tutor and have carried out many achievements with a range of learners, surrounding computer science, business and mathematics.
I also work for a range of exam board, as an exam marker, so have a variety of skills needed to succeed, which I can impart in the tutoring sessions. I have a wide-range of techniques to identify learning needs and supporting the transition to success, using a range of student-friendly rating techniques.
Thank you very much for your help. The class was great!
Class was brilliant, really helped to fill in the missing bits of info and to cement prev knowledge. :)
The class was absolutely amazing.
Thank you, Luke. The lesson went really well and our son is keen to get stuck into the subject with you.
We were very grateful for Luke fitting in an extra 15 mins at short notice on a bank holiday to clarify with my son how he should approach some independent work. Thank you.
Excellent. We are very glad to have found Luke as he has done a great deal to help my son navigate his way through a topic of study that he previously found very challenging.
Excellent. Luke went above and beyond what we expected and put in a lot of time preparing material outside class in addition to the booked hour. He was also very good at picking up on my son’s particular learning needs and adapting his teaching accordingly.
Luke is an excellent tutor and went above and beyond our expectations in providing extra material in support of our son.
very helpful and professional
