About Me
Committed to continued development I am a member of RSB, ASE and a chartered science teacher. I frequently attend and deliver PD events to further and update knowledge and understanding of innovations in Biological Sciences and Environmental Management. I am an enthusiastic traveller and enjoy immersing myself in the culture and environment of wherever I live, often selecting a place of work based on these. I love working in the international education sector for the opportunities that it has given me and frequently use these experiences in my teaching. I have scuba dived in the Coral Sea, snorkelled with sharks, walked across the rift valley and kayaked many rivers and coastlines.
Tutor Experience
I have been a teacher of General Science, Biology and ESS for 20 years and head of science for 7 years, in addition to teaching I also coordinate the Extended Essay programme and have supervised Biology, Chemistry, ESS and World Studies essays. My experience as an IB HL Biology examiner informs the strategies and resources that I prepare when tutoring to guide and support students through the IB examination process. I currently teach Year 11-13 (MYP5 and DP) but have experience in teaching all secondary years in KS3, KS4 and Australian upper school curriculum. I taught in the UK (England) system for the first half of my career before moving across to IB and international schools. I have never looked back, I am committed to the IB programme and believe that it provides learners with a breadth of knowledge and the transferrable skills essential for future success.
Topic Expertise
I have successfully taught all topics and levels in IBDP Biology and ESS for the last 8 years. I am an Extended Essay coordinator and supervise Biology, ESS and World Studies essays. I am an HL Biology examiner and have also been a Biology IA examiner.
I have taught MYP 4&5 Science, Cambridge IGCSE Coordinated Science and Cambridge IGCSE Biology throughout my career.
