About Me

A fully qualified and experienced English teacher and have been privately tutoring for the last year across ages.

Primary - creative writing
KS3 - essay writing, creative writing
GCSE - AQA and Edexcel Literature (Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, Jekyll and Hyde, An Inspector Calls, power and conflict poetry, love and relationships poetry). AQA English Language (Both papers and both sections)
A-Level - AQA
Undergraduate - Specialised in medieval literature, modern/postmodern literature and Gender Theory (but can assist with most leading literary criticisms).

I’m an avid reader and writer, having been published for my poetry. I also set up my own literary journal for a time, so I’ve had experience editing and publishing too.

Tutor Experience

AQA | Edexcel | GCSE English | A-Level Literature and Language | Degree | Dissertations | KS3 | KS2 | Creative Writing | Personal Statements | EPQ

As a current Middle Manager in an Outstanding inner London state school, I focus on planning high quality lessons and resources for the whole department. My job focuses on KS3, however I also assist the Head of Department with KS4 planning. It is important to me that my lessons are engaging, and my teaching practise is supportive, research-informed and of course flexible, to meet the needs of every learner.

Therefore, every pupil I tutor makes progress and gets results!

As a pupil you can expect:
- fun in-session and post-session tasks
- lots of tips and tricks to help you progress
- a supportive but challenging atmosphere

As a parent you can expect:
- weekly feedback
- sessions completely personalised for your child with their targets in mind
- regular homework (tasks can vary from vocabulary quizzes and independent work to research and presentation tasks — depending on the needs of the pupil).
- high-quality sessions based on research-informed pedagogy and vast subject knowledge
- fully qualified, experienced teacher, DBS checked, trained in safeguarding (so you know your child is well looked after)

I am also a published poet with experience in writing and editing novels, poetry and plays. I am particularly adept at grammar and spelling, but can offer support beyond written expression too, like plot development, character development, structure, narrative voice, world building, and creating suspense.
