About Me

I am an experienced private economics tutor and professional economist. I excelled at my studies at University College London (achieving a 1st Class Honors degree) and the University of Cambridge (achieving a Distinction in my Masters). Throughout my studies I developed an excellent understanding of how to approach exams, quickly absorb large amounts of information, and how to efficiently and effectively revise.

I am passionate about economics, and more importantly, passing that passion onto my students. I have tutored students both in-person throughout London and online, from a large number of universities. I have taught a wide range of courses including econometrics, mathematics for economics, microeconomics and macroeconomics. Thus far all of my students have achieved their goals, and I intend to keep going!

I now work as a senior economist for the Civil Service. Throughout my career I developed the ability to communicate complex economic and mathematical concepts at a simple level. I have experience using statistical software including Excel, STATA, and Python.

Tutor Experience

I have tutored 30+ students Economics from almost all major London universities, including London School of Economics, University College London, Kings College, City University, Birkbeck, Queen Mary, and SOAS.
I have tutored 20+ students online from universities and schools throughout the UK. I’ve helped prepare students for exams, essays, dissertations and university courses.

I helped one student improve their 1st-year "mathematics for economics" test result from below 40 to achieving 96. I helped another improve their 3rd-year LSE microeconomics score from below 40 to achieving 79. I have helped a student pass their microeconomics and mathematics Birkbeck evening course exams.

Testimonials

Martin is a very talented and knowledgeable tutor. He helped me understand critical economic models I originally found complex in a very simple way, and this facilitated my general understanding of Microeconomics. He is very encouraging and friendly which made our sessions more productive. He is extremely organised and we were able to cover all topics and go over exam questions to ensure full preparation for my exam. I can`t recommend him enough. Thank you again, Martin!

Martin is a remarkable tutor. His ability to break down difficult questions and explain the process of answering them is exceptional. He has demonstrated immense patience and consideration for my dyslexia. The sharing of his vast knowledge has enabled me to build confidence in my Economics Undergraduate course across all modules. I have received complete value for money and highly recommend his services to others.

Martin helped me enhance my level in mathematics and achieve outstanding grades. I can`t recommend him enough as he has been a great helped to me. He is very friendly and keeps a good track of your progression which facilitate the lessons.

I've been taking lessons with Martin for a few months now and would highly recommend him to others seeking economics tuition. Martin is very organised and began by helping me fashion a structured study plan for going forward, based on the demands of my undergrad level course. During lessons he effectively breaks down economic concepts with concise explanations, and is always prepared to review material as needed. His facility for both the discursive and technical aspects of economics is encouraging, especially when the material is dry and unintuitive! I’ve been very satisfied with my progress so far and look forward to working with Martin for the remainder of my studies.
