About Me

As a passionate Geographer, naturally travel is a passion of mine and something I try to do at every opportunity. I have taken a total of over a year and a half out of my work to travel the world, visiting every continent of the planet with the exception of Antarctica. Patagonia, India and New Zealand have been the most striking and fascinating places I have visited, spending almost 3 months in each place and submerging myself in the 'geography' of these places, helping me to truly understand and teach the physical and human aspects of our planet from first hand experience.

In my spare time, I am an avid crafter and walker. I fill my spare time with crocheting, knitting and cross-stitching blankets and jumpers galore and upcycle old furniture and clothing. Being in the great outdoors brings me endless happiness and camping and trekking outdoors with friends is something I am always eager to do (whatever the weather)!

To keep fit, I regularly run each week and have practiced yoga for over 10 years.

Tutor Experience

As a qualified teacher and having tutored students for the past 9 years, I have amassed a wealth of experience and resources in delivering effective and enjoyable lessons. Having achieved a First class degree in my subject and an MSc, my subject knowledge is extensive and I am able to convey complex information to my students in a simple and creative manner. I currently manage all A level and GCSE Geography classes at a high-achieving college in London where I am solely responsible for the planning, delivery and preparation of students sitting their exams. I internally moderate all A level coursework, as well as provide students with the skills necessary to complete their A level fieldwork and independent investigation to the best of their abilities. I frequently attend CPD training by exam boards so that I am in the best position to be able to support my students and know exactly what is expected of them by exam boards. As a creative, energetic and passionate teacher, my aim is to show all students how engaging and wonderful the subjects of Geography and RS are.

In my time as a tutor, I have taught a range of students and offer a wide variety of teaching services. I have worked with SEN students (autism, dyslexia, ADHD, anxiety disorders, slow processing), lived with families on residential placements, tutored online and offer intense courses over school holidays. I am currently homeschooling students online ranging from ages 10 to 18 and am fully equipped to deliver outstanding online lessons.

Having privately tutored over 150 students, I have had a resounding success rate. In 2017, 11 of my students achieved an A* or A grade in their A levels, whilst I have a history of pulling students up from a D grade to an A grade.

Topic Expertise

Geography was always a subject I enjoyed and excelled in at school. In my own A level exams, I achieved 100% and 90% in two of my exams and 100% in three of my RS A level exams. This was largely a result of my own exam technique, but also the sheer interest and fascination I had for these subjects.

Subsequent to my A levels, I went on to read a BSc degree in Geography at the University of Manchester. Once again, I excelled in my subject and was awarded a First Class degree with honours, alongside 4 other students out of a cohort of 170 other students that year. I then went on to study an MSc in Geography (specifically Environmental Governance) where I was awarded a pass with Merit and highly commended and awarded a First Class grade for my thesis on the environmental impacts of meat consumption and feminist theory imbedded in the consumption of meat.

My subject knowledge and ability to teach Geography and RE is second to none. Having become a qualified teacher and having taught almost all A level and GCSE specifications (both new and existing), I have a wealth of experience and range in my abilities to teach almost all students at any level. In addition to GCSE and A level exams, I have supported students in successfully securing places at schools such as Eton College, Malborough College, City of London, St Paul's and many more, having prepared them for the 13+ Common Entrance examinations. I have also homeschooled primary and secondary students, delivering and supporting them as their sole Geography or RE teacher in line with the UK National Curriculum.

I have over 9 years teaching experience in my subjects and my holistic and kind-natured approach to teaching has helped inspire passion in my students and reap rewards. Many of my past clients have complimented me most on my style of teaching and the relaxed, yet comprehensive approach I adopt. I strive to build students’ confidence in their ability to question and critique what they are learning and my high expectations enable me to get the best from my students. Through their continuous reflection, my students develop confidence and intellectual creativity in their subjects.
