About Me

I have a passion for education. I gained my masters in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London and subsequently worked as an engineer.

I am now a fully qualified teacher currently working as Head of Department at a leading independent school. I enjoy seeing students and teachers succeed and am passionate about students accessing maths in a fun and engaging way. Students at my school enjoy maths at all stages and abilities because the lessons my team deliver use a variety of activities to unpick students misconceptions and ensure they build confidence. As a result the students I teach and tutor do well, often surpassing their expected target. Prior to my 8 years of classroom teaching I have worked as a full time tutor teaching maths and physics to students following both the UK and American curriculum as well as preparing students at all levels for entrance exams - whether this be for the 11+ or for the MAT/STEP/TMUA university exams.

In my free time, when I’m not tutoring, I’m usually working on a DIY project or developing online resources.

Tutor Experience

I have extensive tutoring experience in the following:

middle school mathematics - ages 8-13
11+ and 13+ entrance exams
GCSE/iGCSE Mathematics and Physics
Grade 8/9 mathematics
A level mathematics
A level further maths
A level Physics
Algebra 1,2, precalculus, AP Calculus
university entrance exam preparation - STEP/MAT/TMUA

I also have 6 years of experience working with students with a variety of educational need including severe autism and dyslexia among others. I enjoy getting to know my students and quickly build a rapport so I am able to adapt my lessons to suits the needs and learning styles of my students.

Topic Expertise

I gained my masters in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London and subsequently worked as an engineer so have excellent knowledge of mathematics and physics with particular expertise in mechanics. I know first hand how maths and physics are used in everyday life and enjoy using this knowledge and experience to enrich the learning process of my students.

I am also a qualified teacher with a PGCE in Mathematics so have educational subject expertise in preparing and delivering lessons: my lessons question and challenge students while unpicking misconceptions and supporting students to make progress.
