I am 34 and I have taught in British international schools over the past 6 years where I have delivered IGCSE, IB, and A-Level Maths and Further Maths. I assisted with a STEP preparation course at Imperial College London for university applicants, and 5 of my students are now at either Oxford or Cambridge. I have a First Class BSc in Mathematics and a Masters in Physics, and 14 years tutoring experience, both in person and online. I am also an examiner for IB Higher Level Mathematics.
I am currently doing a PhD in aerosol science at Imperial College London.
During the sessions, I start by asking the student what they enjoy about the subject and what they have found challenging. It is important to see how the maths is applied to the real world to develop interest. I tutor online using a stylus to show the student what I am writing while I am sharing my screen on Skype. I give the student time to work through problems and encourage them to have the confidence to answer their own questions, but also guiding them to the solution.
I have been a private tutor of Mathematics since 2004, when I ran my own tuition company. I have tutored online over the past few years to students in Switzerland and China, where I use a stylus to help to communicate the mathematics.
