About Me
I am passionate about maximizing my full potential and this forms a major part of my interaction with my tutees. Over the last 16 years, I have been supporting students in achieving their academic goals. Seeing them thrive, obtain scholarships, become actuaries, artists and accountants, fuels me to continue to teach Mathematics.
Tutor Experience
I have dedicated the last 16 years of my life to bringing transformation to the lives of Mathematics students, as a tutor and teacher. My first 7 years in the profession were spent in a local school. In the last 9 years, I have taught in international schools and have tutored people from the UK, Japan, China, Turkey, South Africa, Greece, Switzerland, Spain, Brazil, France, Italy, Bratislava, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Cayman Islands and Jamaica.
My philosophy is that tutees who are desirous of success in Mathematics, can excel, with the right support and guidance. That’s what I offer. My classroom is a safe space, where I challenge and empower tutees to grow personally and academically. Gaining my Masters in Mathematics Education, my experience as an examiner for multiple Mathematics examinations (IB, CAPE, and CXC) and my wealth of teaching experience equip me to offer quality support to my tutees. My gentle teaching style and focus on conceptual understanding cause my tutees to excel in their examinations and be confident Mathematics students.
Topic Expertise
Mathematics is my subject of expertise. In particular, I enjoy offering tutorials for IB - Mathematics AA SL and AI SL. Guiding students along their IB journey, clarifying their misconceptions, teaching them how to efficiently use their Graphing Calculator and preparing them for the IB exams are the main elements of my tutorials. I have taught and prepared hundreds of students for these examinations and they have performed exceptionally well under my tutelage.
I also focus on giving support in the completion of the Mathematics IA for AA SL, AI SL, AA HL and AI HL. Students always comment that after having their IA sessions with me they have clarity about the IA process and the expectations of the IB.

I recently did my mock exams and in paper 1, I got 70%; in paper 2, I got 56%, which is either a high 5 or low 6 IB grade. At the start of the year (September 2023) I was at an IB grade 4 and since the start of the IB (September 2022) I had never gotten percentages in the 70s. This is all thanks to the the help I get from Ms Woniqua as it ranges from practice papers and classes dedicated to chapters, depending on what I need. I am now more confident during maths exams and feel capable of achieving a 6 in my final grade.

I think that the feedback was mostly helpful however for the price I paid, it wasn't worth it. In recent years, I participated in 3 IB workshops for various Mathematics courses (AA SL, HL and SL). I obtained my Masters in Mathematics Education (with distinction) in 2015 and my Post-graduate Diploma in Mathematics Education in 2012. My first degree, B.Sc. is in Mathematics and Economics.
