About Me
I am somewhat of an art and culture obsessive, spending free time in museums, at contemporary art events, and watching movies. My partner is composer of contemporary classical music so occasionally I am able to use my ears too, but remain ostensively in the same art world. I have two sons and a step-daughter. They work variously with film animation and technology.
I have a compassionate outlook and a vegan diet.
Tutor Experience
I have extensive experience supporting individual students in study for a range of visual art and design qualifications including A-level, IBDP, IGCSE, GCSE, AP (art history), essay writing, as well as portfolio preparation for admission to UK and US BA and MA art, design, fashion, and architecture courses.
For strategic learning on-Iine I developed innovative methods to link teaching between schools in Shanghai and University in the U.S.
Topic Expertise
I have versatile practical skills in traditional media, such as sculpture, drawing, painting, process photography and intaglio, relief and screen print. I also often work with sound, performance, digital images, and video. Beyond dynamic practical skills I have an extensive and deep knowledge of the history of Western art as well as contemporary and modern art from South East Asia.
I am able to express dense art theory in simple terms and have written extensively for specialist art platforms on-line and in print.
