About Me

I am Peter Kiss, currently pursuing my PhD in computer science at Warwick University. I have received my undergraduate and master's degree from the University of Oxford, Worcester college, in mathematics and computer science. My PhD research topics are dynamic algorithms and algorithmic game theory. I am particularly interested in dynamic matching problems and computational complexity within dynamic algorithms.

Next to my PhD studies I enjoy tutoring and holding extracurricular classes for keen students. As most students are not taught algorithmic thinking and problem solving under school syllabus they have a wrong picture of what studying computer science is like at university. With fellow alumni we sometimes hold classes going beyond curriculum in my old high school and for other keen students as we got into the field of computer science studying from older students back in school.

Apart from my studies and tutoring I spend my time rowing, spending time with my dog and gaming.

Tutor Experience

I have tutored students at EuroExam mentoring them throughout their university applications. This included general mathematics and computer science tutoring for A-level equivalent examinations, personal statement advise, MAT and interview preparation. My students have received offers for studying mathematics, computer science, mathematics and computer science at Oxford and Cambridge and other prestigious UK universities.

I am a contributor to the Oxford Department for Continuing Education upcoming online course on AI and machine learning. We have designed lecture notes, illustrations, videos and exercises for students interested in the field of AI without a computer science or mathematics background.

I have tutored and held classes for younger students during and after my time at Fazekas High School in Budapest. This involved preparing students for general high school examinations as well as preparing them for IOI like algorithm design focused competitions.

Topic Expertise

I have received an upper second class degree from the University of Oxford, Worcester college where I have studied mathematics and computer science (MMath and CS). My master's thesis was about modal-mu calculus model checking. My PhD research is focused on dynamic algorithms and algorithmic game theory. I am also involved in a medicine research project where we utilize machine learning to identify abnormalities in hearth ct images.

I have been competing in IOI like algorithm design focused coding challenges and competitions and mathematics challenges before university. I have also completed software engineering internships.
