About Me
I have taught mathematics for more than 30 years and couldn't imagine doing anything else. This quote from Deepak Chopra sums up the way I feel about what I do: ‘When I express my unique talents and use them in the service of humanity, I lose track of time and create abundance in my life as well as in the lives of others’.
Seeing the joy in a student when the penny drops is such a good feeling - I can't imagine a better job:-)
My other love is walking while listening to books.
Tutor Experience
Most of my experience has been outside the UK. Although born in England, I grew up and was educated in South Africa. I taught at a boys private school for 20 years covering both general mathematics and advanced programme mathematics - the curriculum is very similar to the GCSE and part of the A-level programme. I have also taught in Italy at an international school where I taught Grades 8 to 12 under the International Baccalaureate system. More recently I have taught in an English school covering the GCSE curriculum.
Since the pandemic I have gained much experience teaching online - both to a class and one to one. I have 4 students that I have been teaching for almost 2 years. We have regular weekly lessons and more at exam time. All of their results have improved during this time.
I usually create a Google Classroom for each student so I can provide notes, videos or homework and it is all in one place. I try and split the lesson when possible so we can do current work and look back at previous topics.
I take a personal interest in the students I teach and build a good relationship with each one. I believe I have made positive a difference in each of their lives.

2. IB Mathematics - Middle year programme
3. IB Mathematics - Applications and Interpretations
I have not taught A-level mathematics as a subject, but I have experience in the following topics:
Algebra, Functions, Coordinate Geometry, Exponentials & Logarithms, Trigonometry, Differentiation, Integration, Sequences & Series, Data, Probability, Statistical distributions & hypothesis testing, Correlation & Regression.
