About Me

I got a BA in natural sciences (physics) from Cambridge in 1991 and then a Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Hawaii in 1997. Since 1997 I have been at the University of Cambridge Institute of Astronomy as a research fellow. In 2009 I took early retirement (I am an MS patient), but continued to lecture in astronomy at the Institute for Continuing Education at the University of Cambridge. My recent courses include cosmology, exoplanets, and astrobiology. For several years I have also been tutoring GCSE and A level students.
I have also been tutoring online science degree level in a wide variety of subjects including biology and geology. Where I have been able to offer the most help to students in different subjects is in the area of data analysis and interpretation with statistics.

Tutor Experience

I am a science and maths tutor and retired and part-time lecturer in astronomy at the University of Cambridge. I teach all sciences and maths at GCSE and A-level physics and biology. I also coach in Oxbridge entrance in the sciences. My time at the University of Cambridge has been very useful at giving me insight into the admissions process.

Topic Expertise

I have tutored since I retired from the University of Cambridge astronomy department in 2009. My main experience has been tutoring A level and Oxbridge entrance students. In my 11 years working with the strongest physics students I have become familiar with the techniques that they use to perform so well in exams. I hope to pass this on to my students.
