About Me

I am an experience tutor, and a dedicated professional; having been a primary teacher in LA maintained schools for the past 5 years, I have a keen knowledge of pedagogy and the primary curriculum, including teaching online during school closures due to Covid. The children in my class consistently make accelerated progress. I have been commended for my flexible teaching, adapting my lessons to the strengths and learning styles of my pupils, and explaining and reinforcing knowledge in a variety of contexts.

I have tutored a range of older students, including TSA examinees, A-Level philosophy and economics students, and philosophy undergraduates, all of whom have been repeat clients, happy with our work together.

From 2014 to 2018, I also gained experience tutoring A-Level students online, teaching both subject-specific content, and coaching students towards university entrance exams and interviews.

I am confident teaching all areas of the primary curriculum, secondary school entrance exams, and much of KS3. Given my academic background, I can also tutor religious studies, philosophy, economics and politics up to A Level, as well as coaching students towards university admissions, including entrance exams, personal statements and interview technique.

Tutor Experience

January 2023 - Present: Online tutor
Since January, I have tutored a broad range of subjects, from undergraduate philosophy down to primary maths and English, and have excellent reviews from a client I tutored in TSA preparation, and the parents of my primary clients.

September 2018 – Present: Primary teacher
I have taught in a range of LA maintained primary schools, from years 4-6, as a class teacher and science specialist. I have been responsible for planning, teaching and assessing the full breadth of the primary curriculum, as well as ensuring the wellbeing of the pupils in my care. While working in schools, I have been subject lead for geography, DT and science, charged with ensuring appropriate progression of each of these subjects, as well as budgeting, managing resources, and providing expert advice to colleagues.

September 2017 – August 2018: Personal tutor
I offered online sessions to A-Level and undergraduate students, including A-Level and Undergraduate philosophy, Oxbridge interview technique, and Oxbridge entrance exams.

September 2014 –February 2016: Personal statement and exam proof-reader
I proof-read and gave feedback on personal statements for prospective university students, as well as annotating example statements to demonstrate the strong and weak points and how they could be improved. I also proof-read mock TSA papers to ensure the questions made sense, and that the answers and explanations given were correct, and wrote outlines for how to answer questions in the essay section.

September 2014 – December 2014: Oxbridge mock interviewer
I provided mock interviews and tutorials via Skype for Oxbridge candidates, ranging from half an hour to two hours in length. I gave them a range of questions typical of what may be asked of them in a real interview, then provided feedback and advice based on their performance.

Topic Expertise

I am an expert primary teacher, as well as an experienced tutor for A Level philosophy, and university admissions.
