About Me

I'm an Anglo-Danish linguist, literature lover, film fiend, and lay philosopher currently writing my PhD at Cambridge, based between the departments of German and Film. When I'm not working on my thesis, you might find me snapping some photographs or scribbling a note on my blog, Notes on Campus, where I'm committed to bridging the gap between academic and non-academic circles.

I took my bachelor's at Oxford, graduating in German with two Gibbs Prizes for the best results in the Medieval and Modern Languages faculty, and with the Worcester Society Arts Prize for the highest results in arts subjects. Staying on at Oxford, I gained a Distinction for my master’s in Comparative Literature and Critical Translation, exploring six languages and cultural traditions.

I have six years' experience as a tutor of language, literature, and culture, and have worked as a journalist and editor in Munich.

Tutor Experience

With eight years' experience as a top-ranked tutor and lecturer at Cambridge University, I have a 5-star track record of helping students achieve the top results they want and deserve.

Before coming to Cambridge to write my PhD, I took my bachelor's at Oxford, graduating with the highest degree in the university's languages faculty and the best results in Arts subjects. I then completed my master’s in Comparative Literature and Critical Translation, getting a Distinction.

I can help with everything from the ins and outs of spoken language, film analysis, essay-writing, and exam techniques - I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt!

There's no one-size-fits-all formula when it comes to teaching, and I tailor my sessions to the personal needs of every student. It's a real delight to celebrate their successes - be it getting to grips with a thorny bit of grammar or having a 'eureka' moment with a tricky text.

From my most recent cohort: one of my A Level students came out with an A* in German and a place at Oxford; two GCSE students achieved a grade 9, and three a grade 8; and an undergraduate student received a work placement abroad after spoken-language tuition with me.

Topic Expertise

My areas of expertise are German language and literature, Film, and English Literature.

I teach the broad breadth of these subjects, as well as more finicky areas like essay structure, exam techniques, and grammar.

I had some issues connecting to the class due to my WiFi, but once that issue was sorted it was brilliant. Daniella was great at providing an article full of old and new vocab for me to learn and went with my speed of learning. Excited for my next lesson :)
