I am based in the North East of England and have been a passionate science communicator since I was a postgraduate. I studied Genetics at Newcastle University followed by an M.Phil in Molecular Biology at the University of Cambridge. After completing a PGCE in Secondary Science I taught A level and GCSE before moving into industry and pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical industry. I am currently involved in the development and manufacture of a wide range of active pharmaceutical ingredients, I work a shift pattern which gives me plenty of time to teach. As a postgraduate, I discovered I had a flair for explaining complex scientific concepts which led me into tutoring. My approach is to simplify as much as possible while still covering all of the relevant material - it is often possible to explain difficult concepts much more easily in a 1 to 1 situation compared to a classroom with a large number of people competing for attention.
I have a very informal, flexible approach and absolutely encourage students to build their confidence and ask as many questions as they like, again this is something that's much easier in a 1 to 1 setting. Please feel free to drop me a message if you feel you would benefit from some sessions or would like any more information.
I am a secondary science teacher now working in the pharmaceutical industry. I have over 15 years experience tutoring A level and IB Biology as well as all 3 sciences at GCSE. I combine excellent subject knowledge with a relaxed, informal friendly approach.
I have also taught undergraduate students specialising in the field of Genetics and am available for help with dissertation / report writing.
I am very experienced in tutoring pupils of all ability and background in the sciences. I have experience of all the major exam boards (AQA, OCR, EDEXCEL) and have also tutored IB students.
I am also available to help undergraduates studying Genetics modules as part of their course.
Tim was very good and clear explanations given.
very helpful for my exam
made the concepts very simple and easy
Tim is a very pleasant, knowledgeable man and a good teacher. My son has enjoyed his sessions with Tim and is benefiting from the one to one tuition. I would happily recommend Tim.
Really happy with the progress Tim is making with my daughter with her A Level Biology Course. Highly recommend.
Tim is a fantastic biology tutor. He gives 100% to each lesson and I would have no hesitation in recommending him. My sons confidence has grown, he has a much better understanding of the different topics and he thoroughly enjoys the lessons.
