About Me

Hi! My name is Beth and I recently graduated with a first class law degree from Pembroke College, Cambridge. I really enjoy working with students hoping to attend UK universities, and I have a lot of experience supporting students through personal statement writing and interview practice.
I am currently studying the Legal Practice Course (LPC) in London and I will then be undertaking a two year training contract at a corporate law firm called Ashurst beginning the following year.
In my spare time, I really enjoy hiking, running and baking.

Tutor Experience

I have over 360 paid hours of experience working on University Preparation and Academic English courses. My experience includes one-on-one personal statement workshops, personal statement writing, interview practice workshops and one-on-one mock interviews.

I have previously assisted two students in editing and refining their personal statements, both of whom received offers from Oxbridge. Currently, I am working with several students applying to Oxbridge and other top ranked UK universities. I am also tutoring several students on the LNAT, covering techniques for both the multiple choice questions and short essay. In addition, I am working with several Law undergraduates, a Criminology undergraduate and several students studying history A-level.

I also have extensive experience in teaching British Parliamentary debating and Model United Nations (MUN).

I successfully gained offers from 5 top UK Universities (Cambridge, Bristol, Exeter, Nottingham and Birmingham) to study Law via UCAS, including scoring highly in the LNAT. I then completed the University of Cambridge SAQ and a college based law test, to secure a place at Pembroke College, Cambridge.

Topic Expertise

My primary tutoring experience lies in admissions preparation, including personal statements, specialised law entrance tests (LNAT, Cambridge Law Test or similar essay tests) and interview technique & practice. I also have experience working with Law students, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

I have recently achieved a distinction in the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, including an MSc in Law, Business and Management. My modules included Commercial law, Real Estate, Dispute Resolution, Banking, M&A and Public Companies. At the University of Cambridge I studied a 3-year BA in Law, in which I achieved a first class classification. During my degree I studied all the standard qualifying modules; Criminal, Tort, Constitutional, Land, Contract, EU and Equity. My chosen modules were Administrative, Jurisprudence, International, Competition, Labour and a dissertation on Statehood in international law. I would be really happy to work with students on aspects of any of these subjects.

In addition I achieved 12 GCSEs and A* (Biology), A* (Geography) and A (History) at A-level, as well as an A* in my Extended Project Qualification.

Testimonials

'Thank you for all the work you put in with Sam. We are so delighted that he has got an offer from Churchill.'
- Sam (17, Achieved an offer from the University of Cambridge after tutoring in personal statement and interview preparation)

My name is Zahra, and I am an alumni for the cambridge dream program in which Beth was my mentor. Being one of the students interested in Law, Beth orchestrated Cambridge style interviews and questions, as well as guiding me into writing a personal statement that showcases my best talents. She continually gave me feedback as well as showing me examples of her own work, such as her personal statement and her EPQ. She always made the sessions informative and was able to extend all students of varying abilities, giving us tips for improving our current portfolios, which was cruicial for me as I start my GCSEs. Beth has passed on her passion for Law to all the students that were lucky enough to be tutored by her, and I am glad to be one of them!
- Zahra Ahmad (16, Dubai)

Beth’s advice in redrafting my personal statement was critical. She took the time to read my work and, speaking from a position of experience, she highlighted to me several strategies I could use to improve my application. Thanks to her, I was able to get an offer at my first-choice university, Oxford.
