Panagiotis $60-70/hr

MSc - Queen Mary University of London

I have been working as a maths tutor since 2011 and online exclusively since 2015, with over 6000 hours of experience. During this period, I have successfully assisted students studying for their GCSE and IB/A-levels all the way up to university modules and exams. This has taken place both privately and while holding external tutoring roles in various London schools. In the online realm, I have worked with students from all over the world, those studying for UK specifications as well as undergraduates in English speaking universities or wishing to attend UK universities. For instance, I've had students, among others, from Germany, Netherlands, Spain, France, China, USA.
Areas usually covered for undergraduates include analysis and calculus, analytic and differential geometry, financial maths, linear algebra, statistics and probability.

Regarding my tutoring method, I strive to create а well balanced relationship with pupils. I set clear targets for my students and expect them to develop throughout our sessions. Additionally, I emphasize оn the suitable аpprоаch fоr eаch individuаl in оrder tо hаve the best results pоssible. I further cоnsider humоur аn essentiаl pаrt оf my sessiоns аs it creаtes а better leаrning envirоnment, eliminates inhibitions, and promotes а more enjoyable session.

Lastly, in my lessons, I put a lot of emphasis on the background knowledge of every topic and method - dry memorising is of no use. This has proved valuable for students in tackling the challenging and 'unseen' questions in the exams. What is more, exams aside, analytic skills accompany students throughout their studies in various areas.

Dora $65/hr

M.Sc in Economics, PGCE in Mathematics (UK) - Corvinus

I have got over 200 hours of tutoring experience, teaching mostly the IB Diploma and MYP Curriculum, also online. I also got experience in preparing students for SATs and University Mathematics Exams. (Maths for Business, Economics and Finance)

I am comfortable with using new technology to facilitate learning. (Graphics Calculators: TI Nspire, TI-84, Autograph, Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Sharepoint, Bitpaper.)

In my most recent job, apart from the scheduled lessons, I have supported my students in one to one support sessions and I am very proud that many of them achieved 6 or 7 in their Mathematics Higher and Standard Level exams and got admitted to prestigious universities. (Oxford, Imperial, Kings College, QMC, LSE)

My many years of teaching experience enables me to assess student knowledge and learning style quickly and address it with appropriate methods.

1-2 hrs/week - -- request closed --

I am a DP2 student (Japan) struggling with mathematics SL overall, especially with calculus (integration), statistics&probability, and a bit of trigonometry. I have been going to a local cram school for this, but it has so far proved to be not very effective as the school unfortunately had no experience teaching the IB curriculum. My mock exam grades have been particularly bad, just barely making the cut.

My main objective is to get a 5 or at least a higher than minimum grade to make sure that Mathematics does not become the failing subject in exams.

Given the amount of time left until the May exams, I am looking for a tutor who can help me find the key underlying problems I have, fixing those key errors, and giving me work to do for those areas. I recognize the difficulty of what I am requesting and am willing to take on extra work and effort to make it work.

Dora's last review in IB Mathematics from Kenji:

Integration by substitution and mixed practice. Ms. Dora went through questions, built on covered sections, and answered any questions I had or was unsure about.

Rowan $40-50/hr

Mathematics - University of Cambridge

I've tutored students for the past five years, initially only GCSE and Key Stage 3 mathematics but later including A-Level (and IB) maths (and further maths), first year undergraduate maths (except for pure modules e.g group theory, real analysis, number theory), and also all sciences up to GCSE level. I've covered all exam boards extensively and am very familiar with the individual syllabuses. For the past two years, I have offered specialist tuition to those preparing for entrance exams and interviews for the top universities in the UK, and have had very high success rates getting students into the mathematics degrees at Oxford and Cambridge in particular.

I've consistently tutored for around ten hours per week over this period, and thus have amassed thousands of hours of experience. I've been buoyed by the positive feedback I've received from students and parents, and thus am always eager to take on new students - irrespective of ability level or educational goal.

Adam $52/hr

Economics and Managment - University of Oxford

I have considerable experience tutoring before for both in-person and online

Over the years , I have spent hundreds of hours teaching ambitious people just like you, who are not getting the support they need in school to achieve their goals

Consequently, I appreciate that every student learns at their own pace and their own style. Some learn best visually, others through analogy

That's why I take the time to speak with you and learn your specific goals, challenges and learning styles

I then tailor my lessons to maximise your progress and help secure the grades you want!

Adam's last completed IB Mathematics job with Tyra-Ashley:

Over 2 hrs/week - I am an IB DP Year 2 student, based in Germany, sitting the May 2020 exams. I am a medical applicant with specific IB point requirements and I am looking to improve my forecasted math performance for the exams. I am determined to raise my current performance to a level 7. In IB DP Year 1 I undertook Higher Level Mathematics, as this was a recommendation for specific medical universities, however given that requirements have been altered, I was eligible to transfer to the Standard Level Math course. Across both the Higher Level and Standard Level Math courses I have continued to struggle with the material on Functions, Statistics and Probability, as well as the extended questions worth 15 or more marks. I would like to review all material for the Standard Level course, with a particular emphasis on the afore mentioned areas of struggle. Additionally, if possible, I would appreciate a possible review of the final draft of my Standard Level Math Internal Assessment.

Shahid $91/hr

MSc - Manchester

I estimate I have at least 6000 hours of experience, having been a tutor since 2011. I initially started teaching Maths and Physics to Engineering students at University and I gradually expanded into secondary school level tuition. I have worked full time as a tutor since 2012 and during that time I have taught Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering.

I have taught A Levels, IGCSE/GCSE, IB, Pre-U, AP and I have covered nearly every exam board including Edexcel, OCR, AQA, WJEC. All of my students are seeking to get into top Univeristies.
What makes me a good tutor is my ability to break down a subject and cover it in a particular order so that a student who might not have a good understanding can understand how to progress through the topics. It doesn't hurt that I have a sense of humour and make my lessons actually fun and enjoyable.

Shahid's last completed IB Mathematics job with Jennifer:

Intensive - IB Math Start Immediately
My daughter will need intensive revision for an exam up until January 23rd in 10th Grade Advanced Level Math. Afterwards, we would like to fix weekly sessions twice or three times weekly, for the duration of the academic year. The last topic covered was “logarithms”.

Zoltan $50-60/hr

PhD - Royal Holloway

I’ve been working in universities and colleges for 15 years and have over 2 years experience of private teaching (1000+ hours). I’m an expert in linear algebra and elements of probability theory and have a range of experience teaching optimisation theory (including game theory), advanced calculus and complex analysis. I’ve delivered private lectures to A-level, IB maths students and undergraduates from prestigious UK universities. I teach students to learn the crucial concepts of maths more easily through concrete, clear examples. During my tutoring sessions I always reveal connections between different areas of mathematics, which appear highly non-obvious at first. This helps my students to obtain a deeper understanding of the curriculum. I always tailor sessions to the needs and requirements of my students and the main focus is on the practical application of the theorems.
