About Me
I'm from Tipperary in Ireland but have spent the last 16 years travelling the world and teaching in International schools. It has been a real pleasure for me to experience all the different cultures and to work with so many fantastic students.
I try to stay as active as possible and really love to go out hiking in the hills and woods when I have time. I also enjoy swimming, cycling and watching football. Of course, I read as much as possible and play a lot of chess online.
Tutor Experience
Fully qualified, highly motivated and knowledgeable teacher of English language and literature. I have over 16 years of experience in international and government schools in Thailand, Brunei and China. Curriculum focus has been on A Level and IGCSE, along with the International Baccalaureate. Very strong academic background and subject knowledge with a BA, MA and PGCE in English. I have worked with all levels of ability and am very confident in my ability to drive educational success. I am a dedicated and demanding teacher who always strives to inspire his students to reach their goals. My teaching focus is on the nurturing and promotion of critical thinking to ensure students can achieve their best and fulfil their ambitions in our global society.
Topic Expertise
I have very wide experience in teaching IGCSE English including First Language English, Second Language English and English Literature. I have taught both Cambridge and Edexcel courses.
For A Level, I have taught the General English (Cambridge) course and English Literature courses with both Cambridge and Edexcel boards.
I am also comfortable with tutoring the IB DP English course.
