Online English Tutor Jazmin

I am a fully qualified English teacher. I have a PGCE with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in Secondary English from the University of Bristol.

I have 5 years of experience as a secondary school English teacher. I was also deputy Head of English.

This role required delivery of the national English curriculum to students aged between 11 and 16. This demanded a sophisticated understanding of a range of English topics: from literacy and grammar to advanced GCSE content for ambitious / highly able students. I am confident with teaching any subject within English, whether it is to a class of 32 or on a 1 to 1 basis. This experience also comes with a range of other competencies including: efficient marking and feedback; secure behaviour management; ability to adapt to a range of needs; guiding students through examination stress and targeting gaps in knowledge.

I have 9 years of experience as a private tutor. I am currently a full-time private English tutor with international and local clients, from both private school and state school backgrounds. I am proficient with facilitating online learning and am able to make lessons interactive, thorough and as effective as in-person tuition.

I completed a Masters in Education to further enrich my knowledge of the education system. My M.Sc. research project centred around the provision, success and failings of the U.K.'s highly able pupils, which enables me to teach ambitious children with expertise rooted in scientific, pedagogical research.

I have also taught in the Fiji Islands during an education expedition to the northern province of Ra.

I have 10 years experience studying English Literature.
I have 6 years experience teaching GCSE English Literature, GCSE English Language and Key Stage 3 English.
I have attended exam board training for English Literature and English Language GCSE.
Specifically, I am proficient in teaching the following to any age or ability:
- Poetry (all levels, all genres)
- Shakespeare (Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth etc.)
- Traditional GCSE Literature texts such as A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls, Lord of the Flies etc.
