About Me
I'm originally from Canada where I started playing classical flute at the age of 8.
Once I finished university an opportunity arose to teach music in Bermuda. The island is absolutely gorgeous and provided with me with many opportunities including directing preparing students for performances and performing in local ensembles.
I appreciate that students come with a variety of goals when it comes to their education and I do my best to ensure they receive lessons which assist them in reaching those goals.
In terms of music, my tastes range from classical to rock, pop, indie, hip-hop and jazz. I perform regularly in ensembles, teach private flute lessons, but also enjoy running, playing volleyball and baking on the side! I also love a good board game!
Tutor Experience
I've been a classroom teacher for 12 years teaching students ranging from primary to year 13 (grade 12).
I started teaching privately flute lessons more frequently in the last 2 years and really enjoyed getting to work with students 1 on 1! There's so much more opportunity to connect and assist them in not only learning the material but allowing them to see the joy of learning music. The students ranged in age from beginners at 8 years old to adults learning for fun in their 60s.
My main method of pedegogy is demonstration and having students mimic. Whether it be with an instrument or manuscript paper and learning theory, there are ways to build success and make the material accessible to all!
