Hello! I am 26 and since graduating I have been an engineer, product designer and a software engineer. All my career paths have been driven by a solid foundation in Mathematics. Understanding core mathematical and physics principles can take you really far in whatever career you end up doing and so I am very enthusiastic about it.
Outside of work, I have broad a range of interests. Including designing IOS apps and building camper vans for my surfing trips!
I have tutored for the past 3 years, both privately and in association with Hills Road Sixth Form College. I specialise in teaching Mathematics & Physics from GCSE to A-Level and admissions (personal statement/interview/exams) for Oxbridge and other top UK Universities.
Mathematics is an incredibly interesting subject that permeates all aspects of life, including many future careers. Unfortunately, current curriculums often segment subjects without providing a link between them. It was only when I reached university that I saw how principles and theories from different subjects could come together, which was incredibly satisfying. As a result, my approach to teaching is to focus on building strong foundations in individual subjects while also connecting them to create a narrative. I find that this approach motivates students and better prepares them for more challenging exams and interviews where subjects are combined.
I have a lot of experience, tailoring my lessons to students exam boards I haven't come across before.
I cover GCSE, IB and A-level AQA, Edexcel & OCR courses and more, this includes:
Mathematical argument, language and proof
Mathematical problem solving
Mathematical modelling
Proof
Algebra and functions
Coordinate geometry in the (x,y) plane
Sequences and series
Trigonometry
Exponentials and logarithms
Differentiation
Integration
Numerical methods
Vectors
Statistical sampling
Data presentation and interpretation
Probability
Statistical distributions
Statistical hypothesis testing
Quantities and units in mechanics
Kinematics
Forces and Newton’s laws
Moments
Super helpful tutor! Explains concepts really well.
A great class that has increased George’s understanding, Thank you.
Helpful as always, thank you!
Super helpful going through questions I'd got stuck on - thanks!
Honestly one of the best tutors I’ve ever had and a genuinely nice person to top it off.
Excellent! Great help as always
Excellent. Harris used multiple methods to help me understand.
Harris helped me improve my skills and confident in maths. He is highly qualified and was able to explain the concepts covered in a clear and concise manner. I look forward to having another class with him.
