About Me
Hello! I'm Alex, I have 15 years experience as a classroom Geography and Biology teacher, ensuring young people both excel at and enjoy my subjects.
My classroom and tutoring students know me for my depth of subject knowledge, humour and warmth. I'm passionate about the world and travel which led to me teaching English as a foreign language in China for three years and learning Mandarin myself.
I'm able to teach Geography GCSE and A Level for all examination boards as well as Biology GCSE. I am also an experienced examiner for Edexcel at both GCSE and A Level and have prepared many students in their successful application to Oxbridge.
In my spare time I enjoy surfing, open water swimming, fishing and chess!
Tutor Experience
I've Worked as Lead Practitioner and Assistant Headteacher in three top UK secondary schools and am currently responsible for making sure teaching and learning are outstanding in my school.
Over my time as a teacher I have supported thousands of students in my classroom but also worked with many in individual tutoring sessions. Sometimes this is supporting students who just feel they need a bit of extra support because they have struggled with concepts in class or in other cases it's students who are very ambitious and wanted to secure top grades for university places. I have regularly supported individual students in their Oxbridge applications, offering advice on personal statements, providing undergrad level literature, entrance examinations and interview practice.
I'm an experienced examiner and a lead moderator for coursework so know exactly what exam board like Edexcel, OCR and AQA are looking for and would be happy to support you in refining your work.
