Lecturer in Economics at University of Manchester (2013-). I teach courses in Time Series Econometrics (3rd year, UG), Cross Section Econometrics (PG), Introduction to Quantitative Methods in Economics (PG). In the past I have provided courses in Financial Econometrics (UG), Asymptotic Inference in Economics (PhD), and Econometric Methods (PG). I have worked as a supervisor for both PG and UG dissertation students and have over 6 years experience writing, invigilating and marking exam papers.

I have experience as a teaching assistant and supervisor at University of Cambridge, supervising 1-1 and in small groups and providing tutorials for the BA and MPhil econometrics and maths/stats modules.

Since undertaking my PhD I have worked as a private tutor, mostly online covering a wide array of topics from first year UG to PhD level in econometrics (theoretical and applied), maths and statistics for economists and financial econometrics.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority (2018).

My main area of research is econometric theory, with a particular specialisation in identification and inference from moment functions (OLS/IV/2SLS/GMM/GEL/ML) . I also have researched on applied econometric problems and have published and produced 3*+ level research papers.

About Me

I was born in Yorkshire in 1985. I took a place at Robinson College University of Cambridge in 2003 to study economics eventually placing 2nd in the Economics Tripos. I finished my MPhil in Economics at Darwin College in 2008, before returning to Robinson College to study for a PhD in Econometric Theory, graduating in 2013. I have worked at universities ever since, spending most of my time teaching and undertaking research.

Outside of university work and tutoring I enjoy writing and reading poetry and performing at spoken word events. I am currently writing and producing a radio soap. I have been a rower in the past, enjoy walking, the countryside and industrial landscapes.

Tutor Experience

I started tutoring during my PhD in 2008, supervising small groups of students in econometrics and providing teaching assistance in UG/PG tutorials. I took up my first university lecturing role in 2012 at Royal Holloway (UL) where I lectured in Financial Econometrics. In 2013 I took up at a lecturing post at University of Manchester where I have written courses and lectured at both UG and PG level in Quantitative Methods, Econometrics (including courses on Time Series, Cross Section and Asymptotic Analysis). My teaching evaluations from the past couple of years have been very good, praising my clear lecture notes and video clips and a clear intuitive approach to presenting complex material in lectures and in written notes.

I have worked as a private tutor, both face to face and online, and I have enjoyed helping students develop their potential and find the learning style which works best for them. Every student learns in a different way and I find setting clear objectives and a plan from the outset along with clear communication throughout is paramount to effective and efficient learning.

Topic Expertise

Econometrics from 1st year UG to PhD and spanning most core topics including time series, cross section, panel data, estimation and inference (OLS/IV/ML/GMM), financial econometrics.

Maths and statistics for economists.
