Callum has just completed his LLM at the University of Cambridge achieving First Class Honours, after having been awarded the 3 Verulam Building Scholarship by the Law Faculty, which is awarded on the basis of likelihood to succeed at the Commercial Bar, as well as winning the Jennings Prize for outstanding academic achievement across his final examinations. Callum undertook his law degree at Swansea University, where he also achieved First Class Honours, winning prizes for best marks in medical law and sports, as well as gaining the highest mark in media law. Before studying at Cambridge, Callum studied the Bar Professional Training Course at City Law School as a Gray’s Inn Lord Justice Holker Scholarship. He achieved an impressive 84% average on the BPTC, as well as a distinction in his thesis.
Callum has a wide range of experience in the legal industry. Over the last year, whilst studying his LLM, he worked for Counsel as a legal assistant, completing research over complex issues, involving contractual and tort issues in the construction and insurance context. Through this role he has helped write several lecture draft handout covering issues in construction and also arbitration cases. Callum furthered his interest for arbitration by representing the University of Cambridge as an oralist. Callum is due to commence pupillage at a leading London commercial set in 2023.
Callum also has extensive experience in mooting and debating. He was a finalist in the Research Institute of Ethics and Law Debating Competition, where he focused on the title of whether strict liability in Doping was a step too far.
Callum is currently a visiting lecturer in commercial law, property law, contract law and the law of obligations in addition to his private tutoring.
Callum has extensive tutoring experience and has done so for the last 18 months to law students, LPC students, BPTC students, LLM students and GDL students. Callum believes in first looking at the law and the various issues it addresses then applying it to a particular situation or problem. He likes to look at the distinguishing features between cases, as well as analysing the dictum of Court decisions. Callum, however, does not have a ‘one fits all’ approach and will create a tutoring plan for that particular student and help with the development as a law student.
Callum tutors in all areas, with a particular emphasis on tort, contract, commercial and company law. Callum can teach for all types of courses, including: LLB, GDL, BPTC, LLM & LPC.
It went amazing! I was a bit confused and Callum took his time and explained things to me! Hands down the best teaching method and you'll definitely enjoy it! I'm excited to do more sessions with him and work on other modules!
Callum's teaching and his respect when helping students like me is excellent.
