My teaching career began at university when I volunteered in a local school as part of a student community action project. This experience saw me win 'Tutor of the Year' and set me on a path to become a teacher. I have been teaching ever since, and while I was born and raised in the UK, I have been living internationally for 12 years, 10 in the USA and 2 in Rome, Italy. Travel and reading are my two greatest passions which I love to share with my two daughters.
I have been teaching for 16 years, 12 of those internationally in the US and Italy. I began my career teaching middle school English and Drama before moving into primary education. I stayed in primary teaching Year 6 for 6 years before moving into secondary. Since then, I have taught students English and Film across Year 7-Year 13 including Oxbridge candidates in sixth form. I consider myself an international educator due to my in depth knowledge of international curricula such as IGCSEs and the IBDP, but also due to the students I have taught who have come from a wide range of countries and cultures. I also did a Masters in International Education with King's College London with my dissertation focusing on world literature and its role in reducing prejudice.
I have taught IGCSE English Language and Literature (Pearson EdExcel) for 9 years, and IBDP English Language and Literature and IBDP Film for 6 years.
I have also supervised a range of IBDP Extended Essays (English, Film, World Studies, Literature in Performance) and have been an Extended Essay coordinator.
I am also an IB examiner for English Language and Literature.
Rebecca helped me lots with my HL essay! I got a lot out of the sessions!
Very helpful, I look foward to our next meeting!
Rebecca helped me a lot. She addressed my imperfections and expanded on them and on all my questions. She was very sweet the entire time as well as to the point.
Ms Rebecca was very detailed in her explanations and helped me clear up any confusion around my EE. This was a great and beneficial lesson!
My EE was due in 3 days and still had a lot of polishing to be done, and she covered every single problem I had with specific feedback, examples on what to work on and gave a lot of resources to refer to. She also allowed for extra questions outside of meeting time. Exactly what I needed! Thank you!
