I am a very experienced solicitor, leader and teacher/lecturer/tutor who has a passion to help you succeed. I will use my time in practice as a solicitor to guide you through the myriads of law (in particular Employment Law) and its applications, together with how the social sciences of psychology and criminology impact upon everyone, be they observer, accused or victim. I will use all of my knowledge as a teacher and leader in order to empower you to lead your own learning journey and help you achieve your highest potential.
I am extremely organised and proactive in providing timely, efficient and accurate support to all my learners; my approachability and self-presentation allows me to establish good working relationships with you whilst my strong analytical skills allow me to approach the planning that you need to allow you to learn independently and successfully.
My formal teaching career started in 2011 and since then, I have attained two PGCEs (in Primary and Further Education) and amassed a lot of experience teaching in mainstream schools, colleges and on undergraduate university courses. Throughout my years of teaching at primary school, I have successfully taught learners who are taking SATS and their 11+ examinations: knowing how to stretch and engage without causing burnout or intimidation is a special skill of mine.
Similarly, I have taught Further and Higher Education provision through The Cornwall College Group and their associations with Plymouth University; I have again enjoyed great success at increasing learner’s expected grades. Subjects taught were Law, Criminology and Psychology. I am currently teaching A-level Psychology at Notre Dame School for Girls but love and look forward to teaching Law and Criminology in the immediate future.
A commonly perceived marker of success is the increase in a learner’s grades; whilst I regularly achieve this, my personal overriding marker of success is the increased engagement of my learners and moreover, their eventual lifelong love of learning.
In addition to my experiences above, I run a very successful online business, coaching tutors on how to genuinely individualise learning to their learner’s needs. The science and psychology of teaching is ever changing, but my application of appropriate pedagogy, andragogy and heutagogy means that I truly understand how my teaching impacts my learners; it is that knowledge that secures my learner’s: their best grades, their potential achieved and, most importantly, the empowerment of being able to understand how to learn for themselves.
