About Me
With over 18 years’ experience in secondary schools in England and overseas, I am a highly qualified and experience classroom teacher with a vast knowledge of different examination boards.
I have high expectations and believe in offering a quality service in my tutoring sessions. I am happy to provide additional work outside of designated sessions to ensure maximum learning and progress.
Away from teaching, I enjoy travelling, current affairs, keeping fit and aerial photography.
Tutor Experience
I am a fully qualified Teacher of English (2005-current) and IB examiner (2019-current).
Since qualifying in 2005, I have worked in secondary schools in England, China, Brunei, Qatar and Central Europe. I have a wealth of experience in supporting students from a variety of backgrounds.
My versatility, sense of humour and excellent subject knowledge ensures I build strong relationships with students and they gain as much as possible from our lessons. In one-to-one tutoring situations, I employ a range of techniques to maintain interest and develop learning; I like to keep lessons fun, interactive and relatable.
I began providing private tutoring in 2007 and have supported students from two-years old through to an English learner in their mid-forties. I recently switched from face-to-face tutoring to online sessions and work with both school-based learners and those studying for undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications; I hold a BA (Hons) and an MEd.
I have a thorough understanding of assessments across key stages 3, 4 and 5 (MYP, IGCSE/GCSE, IB and A-level) and have examined at GCSE and IGCSE level, as well as currently being an IB examiner for the IO and Paper 1 assessments.
Whilst I am currently an Assistant Headteacher, I have held the following positions in schools: Director of Professional Development; Head of Faculty; Head of Years 8 & 9; Extended Essay Coordinator; Theory of Knowledge Coordinator.
