I am currently in the first year of my PhD in Psychology at the University of Nottingham. I graduated from the University of Bath with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology after studying the subject at A Level.
I take a friendly and relaxed discussion-based approach within my sessions, no question is a bad question! 1-1 tutoring provides students with something very different to group lessons in schools, so I aim to be encouraging and adaptable to support the individual student.
I have over 5 years experience tutoring A Level and GCSE Psychology for the AQA Exam Board, having supported over 50 students and delivering over 1500 hours of 1-1 sessions. I have received unanimously positive reviews from previous students, including supporting numerous students to reach their predicted grades. My lessons are structured around the individual student and I pride myself on my ability to adapt sessions to suit the students personal learning style, goals and challenges.
I consistently maintain a focus on exam technique within sessions. Particularly within Psychology, I often find A level students can be confident with the content and still find themselves losing marks in exam situations. I have created a bank of exam style questions within each topic to use alongside previous paper questions within lessons, ensuring students are confident in understanding the mark schemes and can effectively summarise their knowledge from the textbook to answer exam questions.
I also have experience working within an Autism charity, and am confident in adapting my teaching style for neurodiverse individuals or those with different learning styles to ensure all students can get the most out of their lessons.

"Bella has really helped my daughter prepare for her psychology A level exams. My daughter has gained a lot of confidence and now feels strongly prepared for her exams - we didn't think we would get to this point! Bella always stays on topic and has a good plan for sessions, and my daughter always felt she achieved a lot each week. Thank you Bella!"
From a parent of my previous student who I tutored AQA A Level in year 13, after a confidence knock in her mocks. She was very strong with knowledge of the content, however struggled to get her ideas down on paper during exams in a way that fit with the mark scheme. With sessions focused around exam technique and lots of repetition, we worked on her confidence as well as providing practical structures and help with the mark scheme. She gained an A* in her final exams and went on to her first choice university.
"Bella is an absolutely amazing psychology tutor. She clearly has a great knowledge of the subject based on her explanations and teaching methods - anything I asked her within the AQA syllabus, even if it wasn't on the topic we were currently working on, she could answer clearly and in a way that was easy for me to understand. The lessons are always really interactive and interesting, she asks lots of questions to check that I understand and to encourage me to think about different areas of evaluation that I hadn't considered. I would highly recommend Bella as a tutor if you're looking for someone who has extensive subject knowledge, both within and beyond the specification, and is an engaging, friendly and patient teacher. Thanks Bella :) "
- From a student who I tutored throughout the entirety of year 12 and year 13 in AQA A Level Psychology, as her teacher in college was often off on sick leave. She received an A* in her final exams and went on to her first choice university to study Psychology. Due to her teacher's absence, I provided additional "homework" tasks where requested by this student and marked them for her, going through the feedback in detail as to why I gave the marks I did to improve exam technique.
"Bella has been incredibly useful helping me develop and improve my Psychology significantly, including increasing my knowledge, improving my exam technique, and how to structure and write my answers. Would definitely recommend."
From a student who I tutored throughout year 13 in AQA A Level, receiving Ds in his year 12 tests, then receiving a B in his mock and an A in the final exam. With the A in Psychology, he went on to get a place at his first choice university. He struggled with the quantity of the content and how much he was required to memorise, particularly regarding research studies. We focused on prioritising the most important areas, using the mark schemes of practice exam questions for guidance, and having 1-1 support allowed him to ask questions that he wasn't comfortable asking during his lessons at school.
