About Me

I have a background in academia, university research and teaching; completing a Postdoctoral post (Post-war child migration schemes, UK to Australia) with the University of Kent in collaboration with IICSA, awarded a PhD Doctorate (CDA AHRC Studentship- Historical Geography), a Masters (AHRC Scholarship- Distinction) and Bachelor's (First Class Honours- received a total of five awards for Outstanding Academic Achievement) degree from Queen Mary, University of London. In that time I have completed many in-depth research and writing projects, been involved with numerous multi-institutional collaborations; tutored, taught and lectured at university-level in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities.

My PhD thesis entitled 'Health, Environment & the Institutional Care of Children in Late Victorian London' is available to view online via a quick Google search!

Outside of academia I've worked with public engagement partnerships, museums and cultural learned organisations. Alongside a team of academics working for the Ragged School Museum based in East London, I helped to create new content for galleries and exhibitions and produced learning resources and materials for the museum and its staff, visiting schools, academics and general visitors. I worked with the prestigious Royal Geographical Society (RGS-IBG) as their Enterprise & Collections Assistant conducting internal and external educational research projects based on the society’s renowned historical collection.

I have an Enhanced DBS Certificate dated 9th April, 2022 and I am signed up to the DBS Update Service.

Tutor Experience

Over the last decade I have gained experience teaching and tutoring across a range of subjects from the Social Sciences & Humanities in universities, schools and colleges.

While completing my PhD at Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL) I lectured and offered teaching support on both undergrad and postgrad modules, led weekly seminars, graded and assessed student essays, dissertations, coursework and exam scripts. During that time, I attended training modules with the Doctoral College on student teaching and tutoring and was active in conducting educational field walks, trips and excursions, and acting as both student mentor and university ambassador. I advanced both my formal teaching and research experience when I was appointed a Postdoctoral Academic post with the University of Kent (UKC).

I'm currently working online as a freelance tutor and academic supervisor for a number of UK universities and across a range of online platforms assisting students at PhD level, postgrad, and undergrad level and helping college students improve grades to gain access to Higher Education. I also work as a Sector Specialist Advisor (SSA) for the End Point Assessment training of Geography/History/Sociology teachers, researchers, lecturers and tutors and provide content for model writing and research services.

Topic Expertise

I take a very personable and versatile approach to tutoring my students. My priority is firstly getting to know you --finding out your academic goals and aims as well as pinpointing the areas we can work to improve -- before collaboratively setting out a personalised learning plan that will help you maximise your potential and reach those goals!

I offer support on the following:

Human Geography: (Specialism- Historical Geography) University level, school and college

History: University level, school and college

Sociology: University level, school and college

I provide assistance on coursework, reading and reading lists, planning, writing and editing essays, support with exam preparation and revision and any general assistance and advice you may be needing with your studies.

I will also offer my assistance outside of the lesson contact-time; providing written feedback on work, help with the planning and writing/editing of essays, dissertation and coursework, help with reading lists and source suggestions and answering any other queries or problems you might have.

Until recently I have been supplying teaching support for schools in London and the North-West of England and can provide an Enhanced DBS Certificate upon request.
