About Me
I have always loved working with children and finding fun and interesting ways to engage them, so my love of English and writing led to my study of English and subsequent Diploma in Special Needs.
With 2 teenage daughters, I have enjoyed family life and teaching both here in the U.K and also in the United Arab Emirates where I enjoyed working with a range of children from many cultures.
In my spare time, I am an avid reader, traveller and love cooking.
Tutor Experience
I have been a teacher in both the state and private sector for 25 years, both here and abroad. My teaching has ranged from being a classroom teacher to children in years 4 to 6 to specialized booster English group teaching in preparation for SATS as well as 1:1 English lessons. For the last 6 years I have taught Maths classes to Years 4 to 6 and also 1:1 extra English lessons focusing on helping to bridge gaps in learning.
Over the last 6 years, I have also taught weekly English and Maths lessons to primary aged children online.
My aim is to make learning fun, multi-sensory and build confidence and a positive mindset so that my students can reach their potential.
Topic Expertise
I have a broad knowledge of and experience with the teaching of all aspects of English to primary school children, including reading and comprehension, spelling and phonic approaches using multi-sensory approaches and the development of writing structure across all fiction and non-fiction genres. I also have great experience of adapting teaching to the needs of children with Dyslexia and ADHD.
I have wide teaching experience of teaching all aspects of the primary Maths curriculum.
I have tutored children in preparation for SATS exams and annual Prep school exams up to Year 6.
