I am a university lecturer and researcher in the field of engineering. I completed a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and received my PhD in Electronic Engineering.
My research field is robotics, particularly the use of robotics in renewable power plants. I supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students. Here are some of the topics that my students are working on:
- Develop a quadcopter that can fly in the air and swim underwater.
- Design and build a kit that can electrify any skateboard. The kit should be affordable and easy to install, with a 5 km range.
- Develop a robotic arm that will be part of a beach-cleaning robot. The robot will use computer vision to identify pieces of trash on the beach.
- Build a multicopter drone that can stay airborne for at least an hour. The drone uses an internal combustion engine to provide lift, and brushless DC motors offer stability. The drone will use the Pixhawk flight controller.
In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities and playing board games. My current favourite board game is Dwellings of Eldervale.
I am a dedicated lecturer and researcher in a Department of Mechanical Engineering, with extensive experience in teaching and mentoring students across various subjects including mathematics, applied mathematics, programming languages (C, C++, Python, MATLAB, Simulink), technical drawing, control systems, and robotics.
What I offer:
- Comprehensive Subject Expertise: I teach a wide array of subjects, ensuring a deep and well-rounded understanding of each area.
- Practical Experience: My background various research and industry projects allows me to provide practical insights and real-world applications of theoretical concepts.
- Advanced Technology Integration: I've spearheaded initiatives to integrate new technologies into online learning, such as a computer algebraic system for applied mathematics, which offers students immediate feedback and problem-solving hints.
- Personalized Mentorship: I have successfully mentored undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students as well as technicians in the industry, adapting my teaching methods to suit each individual's learning style and needs.
- Thesis and Report Assistance: I assist students in writing high-quality reports and theses, guiding them through the research and writing process to achieve academic excellence.
My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering a deep understanding of concepts, encouraging critical thinking, and making learning an engaging and rewarding experience.
