About Me
My passion for Mathematics led me to pursue higher education, eventually inspiring my journey into teaching within school settings. Starting my teaching journey in a sizable secondary school, I swiftly garnered recognition for pioneering teaching approaches and a profound grasp of the intricacies of Mathematics education. Throughout the years, my roles have diversified, transforming me from an eager novice to an experienced and esteemed educator.
I take great pride in captivating learners through the use of compelling and practical resources that not only captivate their interest but also prove to be valuable in real-life applications. My teaching style is marked by positivity and stimulation, fostering an environment where students thoroughly enjoy the learning process.
Having successfully prepared students for Key Stage 2 SATs, GCSEs, and A levels, I am recognized for my commitment to instilling confidence in mathematical skills, equipping students to confront challenges beyond the school setting. My core belief centres on establishing a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere, encouraging students to take risks, pose questions, and actively engage in their educational journey.
Embracing an active learning approach, I champion Maths Mastery, ensuring that learners demonstrate a secure understanding of mathematical concepts before progressing. Breaking down learning objectives into manageable steps is a key strength of mine, and over the years, I've amassed, developed, or created numerous resources aligned with these steps. With a robust online presence, I have shared over 200 resources on TES Resources, accumulating over a hundred thousand downloads.
Recognizing the pivotal role of lesson planning in enhancing learning outcomes, I am deeply reflective in my practice. I promptly identify instances where students may not be progressing as anticipated and take corrective measures. Tutor Experience
While I've taught a variety of subjects, my primary focus has been on Mathematics, where the majority of my 30 years in education have been dedicated. This extensive experience has afforded me a profound understanding of how individuals learn.

I have completed an Outstanding Teacher Programme that further honed my teaching strategies, subject knowledge, and understanding of student needs and abilities. My expertise is particularly acknowledged in motivating learners, especially those without a strong natural affinity for mathematics.
In my classroom practice, I've accumulated a wealth of experience catering to diverse abilities, and this is manifest in the quality of my teaching. Recognizing the importance of accommodating individual differences, I have developed numerous strategies and effective questioning techniques to assess and influence learning.

I actively employ game-type activities to promote engagement, often creating my own resources designed to function as educational games. Topic Expertise
I have achieved notable success with students spanning the ages of 9 to 19. This success extends to preparing students for Key Stage 2 SATs, GCSEs, Entry Level Certificates, Key Skills and A levels, with recent hands-on involvement in guiding students through KS2 and GCSE Y11 exams. More recently, I've been actively engaged in developing online teaching materials for the Mathematics component for Higher National Certificate (HNC) Engineering Apprentice students.
I have taught students using AQA, Edexcel and OCR Mathematics GCSE examination materials and can cater to whichever syllabus is being assessed.
