About Me
With 26 years of community nursing experience and 6 years within education, I am in a great position to help students apply theory to practice. I chose to develop a career path towards education as I am extremely student-centred and believe that I can help students improve their confidence and academic performance at all levels of study.
I began my professional doctorate 2 years ago and really love the journey, I am confident with research methods and very happy to share that knowledge. My thesis is around leadership within nursing and I am always willing to share this too.
I am a mum of two fabulous girls who study with me and can advocate for my ability as a teacher, as I use lots of my strategies with them to always be the best they can be.
I really enjoy health and well-being practices which can help students to reduce stress levels and help with anxiety, especially near submission dates, so ask me about them and I will share.
Tutor Experience
I have taught both undergraduate and postgraduate students as a senior lecturer for nearly 8 years full time. I qualified as a registered nurse in 1992 and continually studied and achieved a BSc District nursing qualification with Nurse prescribing in 2001. I then completed my MSc in nursing in 2015, along with my PGcert Professional education and nurse teacher. I am registered as an RN, District nurse and Nurse Teacher with the Nursing and Midwifery council within the UK.
I have supported students within practice since I qualified as a registered nurse and became a Practice teacher in 2012, so teaching has been embedded throughout my career to date and I absolutely love it.
I have delivered lectures and tutorials on many subjects including but not exhaustive, leadership, nursing, district nursing, academic writing, professionalism, advanced practice, palliative care, long term conditions, assessment and history taking.
My experience of online teaching is extremely positive and I am very confident with many virtual learning platforms and engaging technology.
