With nearly 30 years of classroom teaching experience, including 12 years as Head of Physics, I’ve worked with students of all abilities and understand that everyone learns differently. One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is finding that particular explanation or approach that suddenly makes everything click!
I’ve also taught live online lessons, so I’m comfortable creating interactive, engaging sessions where students are actively involved rather than simply listening to explanations.
My lessons are carefully structured around each student’s needs. I use clear explanations, step-by-step modelling, questioning and guided practice, regularly checking understanding before moving on. I particularly enjoy helping students overcome difficulties with mathematical skills, applying equations and developing the confidence to tackle unfamiliar questions.
As an experienced Cambridge International examiner, I also understand what examiners are looking for and how students can turn their knowledge into marks. I use past-paper questions, targeted feedback and exam techniques to help students improve their answers and achieve their potential.
Above all, I want students to feel relaxed, supported and confident enough to ask questions, make mistakes and enjoy learning Physics!

GCSE Physics – AQA, Combined Science and Separate Physics
I have extensive experience teaching GCSE Physics, particularly the AQA specification, at both Foundation and Higher Tier. I support students with all aspects of the course, from developing a secure understanding of key concepts to improving mathematical skills, practical knowledge and exam technique.
Cambridge IGCSE Physics
As a Cambridge International Physics examiner for nearly 30 years, I have extensive experience assessing examination responses and understanding how marks are awarded. I help students develop the precision, subject vocabulary and application skills needed to achieve higher marks.
Physics Calculations and Mathematical Skills
This is a particular passion of mine! Many students understand the scientific ideas but struggle when mathematics becomes involved. I break calculations into manageable steps, helping students select equations, rearrange formulae, convert units and approach unfamiliar questions with confidence.
Exam Preparation and Revision
I use past-paper questions, examiner insights, targeted questioning and personalised feedback to identify misconceptions and gaps in understanding. Whether students are preparing for mocks, revising for final examinations or aiming to move up a grade, sessions are focused on making measurable progress.
