About Me
I am personable, warm, approachable and caring person, who takes real delight in helping children,
young people and adults achieve their goal of mastering another language/deepen their knowledge about their own language.
Being an Austrian national who has lived in the UK for almost 20 years, I am proficient in all 3 languages (German, English, Spanish).
Far from dry and boring lessons, I am passionate to introduce learners to different cultural aspects of German and Spanish speaking countries.
Learners in my lessons feel safe to take risks, ask all the questions they need answering to understand things better, are allowed to have fun whilst also making the progress they need to make.
Outside of work, I am passionate about the outdoors, love wild swimming and yoga, and travelling to explore different parts of the world.
Tutor Experience
I have been teaching German and Spanish in a Secondary School and 6th Form since 2011 in an international school in the UK. This included GCSE, A-Level and International Baccalaureate courses such as Language A, B and ab initio, with excellent results year on year.
I have also been teaching adult learners German/Spanish for beginners.
I have also for some of the years taught pupils aged 9 and 10 in a primary school setting.
My approach to teaching comes from wanting to help learners achieve their potential and their goals. I firmly believe that good rapport and safe learning environments are a must and that knowing your learners' interests and learning preferences are crucial. Once learners feel safe to take risks, make mistakes and enjoy the feeling of achievement that comes from attending my lessons, progress and engagement with the subject follows naturally.
I have in-depth knowledge of how the brain learns and what learning steps need to be put in place so that memory retrieval and application of learned materials are possible.
