I hold a masters degree (MASt, "Part III") in Applied Mathematics from St Catharine's College, Cambridge and a BSc (1st) in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Warwick.
Following a significant personal loss during sixth form, I chose to start University locally after obtaining A*A*A* in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics at A-level. I attended the University of Nottingham for the first year of my undergraduate studies in 2019 on the Mathematical Physics course, where I was a Lillingstone Trust STEM Scholar. I left the University of Nottingham with a CertHE in Mathematical Physics in order to pursue a more mathematically oriented-joint honours course. I transferred directly into the second year of the Mathematics and Physics course at the University of Warwick in 2020, immediately after my first year at Nottingham.
After graduating with a first class BSc from the University of Warwick I attended St Catharine's College, Cambridge as a candidate on the Part III of the Mathematical Tripos. During this year I specialised in applications of differential geometry to theoretical physics, taking courses such as Differential Geometry, Black Holes, Complex Manifolds and Quantum Field Theory. I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2023 with a master's degree MASt Applied Mathematics.
I also work part-time as a support worker for Emmanuel House Support Centre in Nottingham, a charity providing front-line support and basic services to the rough sleepers, homeless and vulnerably housed of the city. I find that this work synergises well with my career as a tutor, providing opportunities to broaden my perspective and develop my communication skills. This work also requires an Enhanced DBS Certificate that I can show on request.
I am a professional and experienced tutor of Mathematics and Physics, specialising in tutoring STEM undergraduates taking mathematical methods modules.
I have tutored numerous undergraduate and graduate modules, including:
COMP1043 - Mathematics for Computer Scientists 2 (University of Nottingham)
F3202 - Mathematical Methods for Physics 2 (University of Sussex)
CMP4004Y - Mathematics for Computing (University of East Anglia)
EART70161 - Computational Mathematics (Imperial College London)
My experience also includes A-level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics, including major exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel, OCR and CIE. I have experience tutoring for university admissions, such as the Mathematics Admissions Test (MAT), Physics Admissions Test (PAT), Test of Mathematics for University Admissions (TMUA) and the Sixth Term Examination Paper (STEP).
As a Part III Maths student at Cambridge I was involved in the marking of STEP papers for the 2023 admissions cohort, and thus have experience on both sides of the university admissions process.
As part of my tutoring packages, I commit ~30minutes/week of time beyond lessons to each client with a regular slot. A-level students tend to use this for the marking of past papers sat in exam conditions, which has been shown to significantly improve attainment. Admissions clients can use this time for the review of personal statements.
During Part III Maths at Cambridge I specialised in applications of differential geometry to theoretical physics, and thus have expertise in many areas of pure and applied mathematics, such as (multivariable) calculus, differential equations (both ordinary and partial) and linear algebra.
