About Me

I'm Patrick, a distinguished educator in Computer Science with more than 20 years of experience teaching GCSE and A-Level in several of England's outstanding schools. My passion for technology and education has shaped my career and driven me to mentor the next generation, helping them excel in Computer Science.

My foundation in Python and Java allows me to break down the complexities of programming, making these languages accessible and engaging. Beyond teaching, I serve as an examiner for various examination boards, enabling me to weave assessment-focused strategies into my lessons and ensure my students are learning effectively and well-prepared for their exams.

I believe deeply in the potential of every student to achieve greatness. One of my key strengths is crafting rich, engaging resources that simplify complex concepts while highlighting their key points. My exceptional communication skills and teaching abilities allow me to connect with students in a way that supports their academic and personal development.

Outside the classroom, my world is filled with music and nature. I'm a live Jazz and reggae fan, finding solace in their intricate melodies. Nature walks are my retreat, offering a peaceful balance to the digital world. I firmly believe in the importance of a sound mind in a sound body and regularly engaging in exercise to stay sharp. And there's nothing like unwinding with friends to keep things in perspective and enjoy the simpler moments in life.

With a career spanning over two decades, I've held pivotal roles in several outstanding educational institutions across England and beyond, steadfastly committed to elevating Computer Science education standards.

As Head of Computing at an outstanding school in London since January 2019, I've been instrumental in monitoring and enhancing achievement across critical stages, ensuring an 80% pass rate and above. My expertise in curriculum and assessment frameworks has been crucial in supporting outstanding progression and fostering excellent learning behaviour within the department.

During my tenure at Twyford C of E High School, my dual role as Head of Computing and A-Level Mathematics teacher involved spearheading the delivery of exemplary lessons, contributing to the school's reputation for outstanding teaching. My deep involvement with examination boards has given me insider knowledge, allowing me to tailor my teaching strategies effectively.

My accomplishments at Featherstone High School include successfully implementing a Virtual Learning Environment and leading staff training on digital platforms, significantly contributing to the school's sustained outstanding Ofsted rating. I've also pioneered incorporating innovative technologies and coaching techniques into teaching and assessment.

At Abbotsfield School for Boys, I thrived under the pressures of an Ofsted-inspected Special Measures environment. My leadership in ICT led to the school's remarkable turnaround, exemplified by a 91% A*-C pass rate in ICT under my stewardship.
Before my UK teaching journey, I was a lecturer in Computer Science and Mathematics at Church Teachers' College in Jamaica. My initiatives included:
