About Me
I am a former research Chemist, with a great passion for sharing the wonders of science with others. Necessarily becoming quite specialised, I relish the opportunity to dive back into other topics and guide tutees through the next steps of their education, giving them the confidence required to pursue their goals. I was fortunate to have some excellent teachers who instilled in me a passion and curiosity that stems far beyond my subject. I encourage everyone to keep their interests diverse - I'm currently restoring a classic mini and commencing learning spanish for a trip to Latin America - you will find unexpected connections with your study or work!
When I'm not in the lab, I love to get out in nature, running, swimming and more recently white water kayaking!
Tutor Experience
I have a wide range of experience tutoring A level and Undergraduate Chemistry, as well as Maths, with my recent tackling of these academic hurdles endowing me with an empathetic tutoring approach. I have thoroughly enjoyed guiding many students through their intellectual journeys and preparing them for their end of year exams. It has been especially rewarding to take the time to dissect the topics with which they struggled the most and helping them to gain a solid fundamental understanding to allow them to better face testing questions with confidence.
I have previously supported Oxbridge interview candidates drawing on my experiences at the University of Cambridge. I feel the tutorial style of question involved in these interviews and beyond is of great value to A-level students of all abilities to build confidence in tackling new topics and unforeseen questions. Nevertheless, not all students learn best as I have, so I tailor my sessions to the student with a flexible and creative flair.
