About Me

Tutor Experience

Cambridge College Director of Studies Natural Sciences

I have 25 years tutoring experience, including working with the brightest Cambridge University undergraduates in all aspects of classroom-based and practical chemistry during my time as a researcher at the Chemistry Department. I also have many thousands of hours of maths and science tuition experience as a private tutor in London.

As a trusted Cambridge college tutor, who has worked directly for the Head of Cambridge University's Chemistry Department, I have first-hand knowledge of the Oxbridge application process and interview requirements and can assist in all aspects of career guidance related to the sciences.

I am a published author in various scientific journals.

Topic Expertise

Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology are the main subjects that I teach to all levels. Because of this specialisation and my own deep-knowledge of the physical sciences at Ph.D. level, I am able to assemble GCSE, IB and A-level course content into easy to understand themes and bite-sized units that afford my students immediate results. I also regularly teach Chemistry to undergraduates who attend a variety of Universities across London and the home counties.

If you are struggling with Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics at any age, I guarantee you will see these subjects in completely different terms after our first few sessions. I combine the 'mechanical' requirements needed to pass exams at the highest possible level with a more 'holistic' approach that make science fun but also enhances your knowledge to a level beyond the minimum required to achieve outstanding grades. The idea being that exam questions seem familiar and facile rather than a stretch.

For A-level students considering Oxbridge, I will emphasise the more challenging topics on the syllabus and introduce themes that will feature in the first year undergraduate courses as well as looking at historic S and STEP level papers as required to ensure you impress at the interview stage. I have a large database of common interview questions and can facilitate mock interviews with comprehensive feedback.

I have a particularly strong track record over recent years of fostering the skills needed to convert A grades to A* grades across a range of science subjects.

I am keen to work with students on a long-term basis guiding them through from private school entry to GCSE/A-level exams, undergraduate assistance and ultimately career progression using science subjects to open doors to the London job market.
