I'm born and raised in Australia but was fortunate enough to be awarded a full-ride scholarship to the University of St Andrews in Scotland, where I am now on track to receive a first-class degree in International Relations and Psychology.
I completed my IB in 2017, achieving a 44/45 and topping my classes in Language and Literature, History, Latin, Spanish and Theory of Knowledge. I was also awarded the Bruce Fox Memorial Prize for Exceptional All-Round Achievement and Excellence in a Modern Language, The Cornish Prize for Best All-Rounder Year 12 IB and The Mabel Roseby Trophy.
I love to spend my free cooking or spending time surfing, sailing or just having a swim in the ocean (I know I'm an Aussie stereotype). I'm also passionate about the environment and with funding from the Laidlaw Research and Leadership Scholarship, I'm currently researching the psychology behind climate change communications with the view to use this research to help grass-root environmental NGOs get their message out and heard.
I have over 300 hours of experience tutoring face to face, and 100+ hours of online tutoring experience. I pride myself on building a positive relationship with students to support them academically and pastorally because as an IB graduate myself I completely understand how hard those two years can be.
All of my tutees have scored above 40/45, with two receiving a 44/45. They have also received offers to a number of prestigious universities including the University of Cambridge, NYU, University College London, the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne.
I have experience tutoring IB English Language and Literature SL, Biology HL and History HL, however, I strongly specialise in TOK and EEs.
I received an A in TOK and have helped dozens of students to plan, research, write and edit their TOK presentations and essays. Over this time I have developed a trusty formula and scaffold capable of helping you through even the most difficult questions. My university degree also has a strong focus on psychology, philosophy, epistemology, ontology and aetiology which allows me to bring new, higher-level ideas to tutees to help them differentiate their work from the thousands of other IB candidates.
Very helpful with TOK essay - would 100% recommend
Super helpful, great use of time!
Great feedback!
Insightful, fulfilling and fruitful class! Charlie helped me strategically approach my TOK essay with a lovely structure.
Very constructive lesson, highly recommended.
Super helpful and very easy to work with! Helped me a lot with my TOK essay
I am extremely impressed. This was my first lesson with Charlie, but will definitely not be the last. She has helped me structure my ToK essay really fast. I now feel confident and even excited about writing it. I wish I would have found someone like Charlie earlier, nevertheless, I am so glad that after trial and error I stumbled upon her.
I would highly recommend anyone taking the opportunity to work with Charlie. Truly an amazing teacher.
Great!
Really enjoyed the lesson, I was able to learn more in one hour than I have in the last 1 and a half years of IB :)
Fabulous! Was very helpful
"Charlie was a really helpful tutor and made a big difference to my experience writing the TOK essay. Through her editing skills, critical thinking and conceptual knowledge she was able to elevate my TOK essay, helping me to achieve the best marks." - Alex Perkins, Tutee 2020
"My name is Chloe Church and I received tutoring from Charlie Rogers throughout my 2-year IB diploma.
Charlie was a brilliant tutor, helping me with hints and strategies to make the most of my studies. Her ability to guide without dominating and direct without disempowering was next level. I felt encouraged, empowered and her enthusiasm during each session. Charlie's constant reassurance helped me maintain a positive mindset throughout.
I would recommend her to anybody across her full-range of subject competencies and took advantage of if wherever our subjects overlapped." - Chloe Church, Tutee 2017-2019
"I seriously cannot recommend Charlie enough: she practically saved my EE and played a crucial role in helping with several of my IAs in addition to subject content. Not only did she meet with me to run through anything I was having difficulty with, but she also helped me plan assignments, read my drafts, and provided critical feedback; essentially guiding me through the whole IA/EE/TOK process. What sets her apart from other tutors that I have had is her ability to explain complex concepts with ease, simplicity, and patience. As a result, I was able to grasp these topics better, and they were heavily imprinted in my memory, allowing me to achieve significantly higher marks than I otherwise would have. Now I am going to study at my dream university, and I honestly could not have done it without Charlieās help." - Lili Price, Tutee 2017-2019
