About Me
I love being outside surrounded by nature - particularly in the mountains and by the ocean. I also enjoy many of the sports that are made possible by these beautiful landscapes such as skiing, mountain biking, hiking, surfing and diving. In 2017 I packed up my belongings into an old land rover defender, installed a tent on the roof and set off on a two-year overlanding expedition. The trip spanned 45 countries through Europe, Africa and South America and, along the way, I was lucky enough to experience many amazing wildlife events, such as spotting pink river dolphins deep in the amazon rainforest and viewing the great wildebeest migration from a hot air balloon above the Serengeti. It was also amazing to see first-hand some of the conservation projects working to protect our natural world and ensure its continuing survival. It was an incredible, life changing journey and one I hope to emulate in the future
Tutor Experience
As a qualified teacher I am passionate about tutoring biology. My aim is to enthuse students in this fascinating, yet challenging subject. Over the years I have helped many students achieve top marks in their exams. I work diligently with my tutees to help improve their confidence and understanding I would love to help in any aspect of tutoring you require – whether it’s simply improving subject knowledge and building confidence, or more specific exam preparation and technique. Ultimately the goal is to unlock the students’ potential and maximise their chance of achieving the top grade they deserve
I believe that every student can succeed when given the right guidance. I help my tutees channel their natural abilities and progress academically in a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment. I enjoy working with the learner to address topics that they struggle with and to identify gaps in their understanding. No single strategy or technique works with all students. My teaching style is very flexible and the approach for each lesson is tailored entirely to the individual learners’ requirements. From the very start, I work with the learner to devise a structured plan that will enable them to excel
Topic Expertise
I have taught A-level and GCSE biology in UK schools for three years, so am very familiar with the curriculum requirements and latest teaching methodologies. During my teaching, I have consistently received positive feedback from my students and colleagues and a senior Ofsted inspector graded my lessons as ‘outstanding’. This high quality of teaching is backed up by my student’s exam results (which significantly exceed their MAGs) and last year, my GCSE biology class received the best results of any GCSE subject in the college. In addition to my classroom teaching, I have worked with numerous tutees on an individual basis and will use this experience to deliver engaging and highly beneficial tuition. I am also an examiner for the GCSE, A-level and IB exam boards, which allows valuable insight into common student exam errors. I teach my students strategies to avoid these traps and ensure top marks

I graduated from Durham University with a 2.1 in biology. I then went on to do my teacher training at Oxford University and am now studying part-time for a master’s in wildlife biology and conservation. I have a natural affinity for biology and love to share my subject knowledge and passion with others through teaching. My genuine fascination for the subject means that I stay on top of recent scientific events and ensures first-rate subject knowledge. It is vitally important students make the most of their time in education.
