When not doing maths, I love to play the piano, guitar and violin. I'm into running (I ran the Vienna marathon with some friends from university in April!) and also juggling (working on a 5-ball cascade at the moment). You may have seen me on the TV - in 2012 I entered the Channel 4 gameshow 'Countdown'. I did quite well, being invited back to play 16 episodes in total including 10 consecutive victories!
I recently graduated from the University of Cambridge with a distinction (87%) in my masters degree in maths. I have a comprehensive knowledge of the material from the A-level syllabus, having achieved full marks (600/600) in my (Edexcel) Mathematics A-level. I have some experience tutoring, with very positive feedback from parents. I try to encourage deep understanding of the basic principles of mathematics rather than rote learning of methods and I feel that this helps the student to develop a genuine interest in the subject. When a student is interested they are far more likely to improve at the subject and are better placed to cope with difficult/unusual examination questions.
