About Me
My name’s Raheema and I've qualified as a science teacher from Oxford university. I really enjoy the breadth of teaching as it’s interesting to see how different science topics are inter-connected (from year 7 through to A level and beyond), which certainly gives me a more holistic understanding of my subject.
When I teach, I like to emphasise these synoptic links to help embed the content into my students’ long term memories. I strongly believe this thorough understanding provides the foundation for confidently and accurately answering exam questions.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy playing hockey and cycling because I love the outdoors. I've also started an acting course, something completely different for me, but it's proving to be so much fun!
Tutor Experience
I encourage my students to connect with Biology by relating it to their daily lives, so that the content is more meaningful and applicable to them. I like to simplify complex ideas by mapping them out using diagrams to help my students visualise new concepts and to see the wider context.
I complement my teaching with frequent exam question practice, ensuring students hand-write their answers under timed conditions, to fully familiarise themselves with the exam.
It is important for me to identify my tutees’ individual goals and to tailor my lessons to suit their needs. I really look forward to developing a strong rapport with my students’, so that they feel comfortable asking any questions to maximise their learning experience.
