I am a political science Ph.D. and researcher with lots of teaching experience at the university level. I am fluent in English and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. I do not have an accent that would cause you trouble in understanding me clearly.
I estimate I have delivered around 6048 hours of 1:1 tutorials to students since 2013 working as an academic advisor for their thesis work at higher education institutions. I have been a full-time academic staff member between 2013-2019. I advised and tutored thesis projects in the field of Political Science that involved quantitative and qualitative research methods.
During my postgraduate studies in America, I worked as a part-time instructor which involved 6 hours of teaching each week. I also worked as an Assistant Professor and later as an Associate Professor of Political Science in two universities in Turkey between 2013-2020. Both universities were large research and teaching institutions. I generally taught between 15-24 hours at the graduate level on topics such as political ideologies, social research methods, political science, political sociology, and government systems in different countries. My teaching experience in Turkish universities was fully in English.
I have university-level teaching, evaluation, tutoring, and advising experience in political science.
I am specifically good at teaching social science research methods: research planning, narrowing down and selecting research questions to design the research/paper around, quantitative data collection specifically through surveys, analysing quantitative data by cross-tabulations and regression analysis.
I have years of advising master's degree students on their research topics, reading and commenting on their written work to improve internal consistency and quality of research.
I can help specifically on papers focusing on political participation and the influence of institutional structures on political behavior.
I am new to the Spires platform and this is my side gig. Therefore, my primary aim is to first perfect my tutoring skills by focusing on the needs of the student rather than generating income.
