About Me

I am in my final year of Medical School training at King's College London, having completed my GCSE's (8A*s, 3As) and A Levels (A*AA) from Nonsuch High School for Girls, and also obtained a intercalated BSc in Cardiovascular Sciences from UCL (First Class Honours). For three years, I have worked at a tutoring centre and gained a wealth of personable skills, custom to teaching students. In my free time, I partake in university extracurricular activities, including playing for the hockey team and leading two university societies as president.

Tutor Experience

Recently joined Spires.

I have three years of formal tutoring under my belt, which includes teaching GCSE and A level students to help them reach their target grades or boost their predicted grades to match and surpass their goal.

For the past two years, I have been a mentor for groups of younger medical students and have delivered teaching sessions on the medical curriculum, with content far more advanced than A Level standards.

Alongside this, I have worked at TestTeach (a tutoring centre for the eleven plus entrance exam for grammar schools) for three years, which has given me plenty of experience and knowledge in this field and allowed me to comprehensively tutor this subject.

With my experience, I am able to make a judgement on the level of working of each student and tailor my resources and teaching style around them. Through my experiences, I have gained insight into working with children which has developed my communication skills with a wide range of ages and abilities which proves to make sessions more effective.

Topic Expertise

Subjects I teach include: GCSE and A-level Biology and Chemistry, eleven plus (11+) entrance test preparation, KS2 lessons for English, Maths and Science. I also assist in medical school applications, interview preparation and personal statement reviews.

My teaching is personalised to each student. Through experience with a range of abilities, I have a strong grasp on the techniques that work and how to make the most of the lesson time.

I am generally easy going and prefer to teach through encouragement and positive feedback, as this keeps morale up which aids effective learning. My material is all prepared by myself before hand, including worksheets, question booklets and revision aids. I believe the most effective way to learn is through understanding and applying, rather than memorising. For this reason, I prefer using active recall and practice questions in my sessions to solidify everything that has been taught, and continually check the student's understanding.

Homework is also provided after each lesson, as well as my availability over WhatsApp to answer any quick question they might have for the homework/classwork. I believe keeping parents/guardians in the loop of their student's learning is essential, so I keep track of every student's performance and will feedback to the parents/guardians so they are aware.
