I am a very experienced teacher, lecturer and tutor who has helped numerous students of all abilities in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering and Chemistry. I was previously a Headteacher of a Secondary school and believe that effort is more important than natural ability. I have worked with examination boards, Russell group universities, the institute of physics and provided advice to education committees.
I am passionate about education and very approachable. I am aware of the differing abilities of students and can guide students accordingly. I believe that every student should be given the opportunity and encouragement to achieve their best possible potential. I can explain difficult concepts clearly and believe there are many different techniques to help students who find specific topics hard. I tutor using many methods and always allows students to understand many types of questions. I believe the most important person is the student and will help them understand topics by allowing them to work through their problems.
I have tutored students online for over 3000 hours and helped over 400 students in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering and Chemistry subjects. I have previously been recognised by ESTYN as an outstanding teacher and won best online tutor for two years with a major tutoring company.
I have been tutoring students Physics, Mathematics, Engineering and Chemistry for over 30 years. I have a wealth of experience getting the best from students at all levels. I have taught Science at Key Stage 3; Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry at GCSE and IGCSE level; Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry at IB level; Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A level; tutored numerous students for 13+, 16+, MAT, NSAA and STEP examinations; tutored modules for undergraduate physics, mathematics and engineering; assisted students for both Master and Doctoral postgraduate degrees.
All of my students obtain excellent grades as I tutor in a way that gets the best from every student. In the latest set of examinations all of my students obtained places after independent schools examinations; at GCSE my students obtained level 9 (4 students); at A level my students obtained A* grades (7 students) and 1 student obtained a B grade; at undergraduate my students obtained a first in their modules (3 students); at postgraduate my Master student obtained a first for her dissertation.

Mr. Nick is extremely professional and thorough. This is the best feedback I have ever received for my coursework, and I highly recommend him. I feel much more confident about being able to achieve a higher mark on my coursework. Thank you so much!
One of the best things we ever did for our son was to engage Dr Poole as a tutor. He has been a tremendous support base and role model for our son in a field beyond our ability. Moreover, with technology today, it’s amazing how our son and Dr Poole developed a very strong and close mentor-student relationship, and in fact friendship, through the on-line tutoring process. Although we initially engaged with him for the purposes of the admission process, we continued the relationship through university as a natural extension and intellectual support base for our son as he continued to expand his sphere of mathematical challenges.

Nick is the best tutor I have ever had for my son Jack. Jack obtained and A* grade in both Physics and Maths. Nick clearly explained the concepts and his experience allowed all of Jack’s questions to be answered. I completely recommend Nick as an online tutor.

Dr Nick is a great tutor who explains topics very clearly and thoroughly. He was able to help me achieve an A* in Physics A level by taking time to go through harder topics and tackling loads of exam questions. I would highly recommend!

This was a difficult task as I wanted my daughter put through her paces for the 16+ to a school which does not have any past papers. Nick's wealth of experience in preparation for similar maths entry exams was excellent and she feels far more confident about the impending entry exam. The Skype sessions were very time efficient and it was great that Annie could print out the notes afterwards so that she can look over them again before exam day.
