I love books! I love all things English! I am a patient and positive teacher with a wealth of experience. One of the best things about teaching, however, is what I learn from students! Every student has potential, and every student is unique and they all have different ideas. What I aim to do is to help students believe that those ideas are valid!
I am an examiner for English Language and Literature for A level/GCSE/IGCSEs for Edexcel, AQA and Cambridge exam boards
I have been tutoring for over 20 years and was Head of Department and teacher of English in a leading online school for ten years. I have taught all aspects of English Language and Literature from providing assistance at undergraduate level, through A Levels and GCSEs, down to KS1. What I love about tutoring one-to-one is the building up of a personal relationship with a student and seeing them gain confidence and develop. Every student is different and learns in a different way, and I have a firm belief that, given the right teacher, everyone can do really well in English. I have also taught History to GCSE and KS3 and run Drama groups, and have participated in additional tutoring for LAMDA.
I have 2 TEFL certificates and have tutored for IELTS/TOEFL/C2 as well as having taught practical conversational English to mixed age/ability groups.
English Literature and English Language for all ages. I examine for AQA, Cambridge and Edexcel boards. GCSE, IGCSE, AS and A Level. PhD in English.
Very good teacher! I enjoyed my time with Jude. She is very helpful and transparent with the marking. I am sure I will do well :) Thanks Jude !
The class was sublime! She helped me to edit and articulate my coursework at a perfect pace helping me to write 600 words in a session.
Amazing and helpful!
She has an extremely good rapport and is very calm.
Jude has been a wonderful tutor for our son. His enthusiasm and confidence have improved in just a few lessons. Would highly recommend her.
Miss Jude is tops!
Found this class to be extremely helpful in locating pitfalls within my essay. This will be beneficial across all my studies. Thank you!
incredible it was amazing !!!
I strongly recommend Jude as an English teacher. The reason she worked with me so effectively, was because instead of being my teacher, she became more of a friend that shared a passion for writing with me. It was a really fun experience learning with Jude.
I highly recommend Dr Jude Allen and Oceans of learning. She is highly experienced in teaching and exam methodology. More importantly perhaps, her love of her subject and literature is highly infectious to her students. My daughter started Eng Lit iGCSE with Jude, under duress and with a lot a apprehension, and within a few sessions, has come to love her lessons with Jude. Jude is a dedicated teacher who not only provides detailed homework and feedback to written work but also encourages my daughter in the other aspects of life beyond exams and in particular to nurture her passion for theatre. Her experience with entrance exams and university applications is also much appreciated as my daughter prepares for Sixth Form entrance.
As a homeschooling family and having been through several English tutors, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Jude is the most exceptional, inspiring and dedicated English teacher we have ever worked with. It's been out fortune and privilege to work with her.
