I was born and grew up in Croatia, discovering my passion for science very early on. In high school I successfully participated in many science competitions, and I am especially proud of winning two bronze medals, one at the International Astronomy Olympiad in Hangzhou, China (2009) and one at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics in Katowice, Poland (2011).
In 2012, I started Natural Sciences Tripos at Trinity College, University of Cambridge, for which I got a full scholarship as well as an additional bursary for living costs. I fully enjoyed my time in Cambridge, because the course allowed me to study Physics and Mathematics in a lot of depth while still being able to explore other subjects such as Biology of Cells and Earth Sciences.
I finished my Bachelor's and Master's with First Class Honours and proceeded to do my PhD at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, which I am currently finishing. My topic is imaging magnetic fields in permanent magnets in order to optimize their performance for key applications such as energy conversion, electric cars and magnetic resonance imaging.
I am easygoing, talkative and friendly. In the spare time, I like hiking, swimming, cycling, learning new languages (finally able to speak German, it's hard!) and spending time in the nature. I am a huge fan of animals, and I would be very happy to meet your pets online.
During my studies at the University of Cambridge, I conducted mock admission interviews for Oxbridge, revised personal statements and wrote Physics Aptitude Tests (PAT) for various tutoring institutes.
Currently, I am doing a PhD in magnetism at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, where I have supervised undergraduate students and given practicums to Master's and PhD students. A lot of these responsibilities have been moved online due to the current COVID-19 situation.
I organized the Summer School of Science in Croatia in 2018 and 2019, which is an international 10-day science camp for highly-talented high-school students interested in studying Natural Sciences at prestigious universities. My responsibilities as an organizer included selecting participants based on their motivation letters and interview performance, supervising other tutors and giving lectures. There, I have also acquired a lot of soft skills necessary for good tutoring: developing critical thinking, building self-confidence and encouraging personal and emotional development.
I have extensive experience in private tutoring in physics, mathematics and other natural sciences, as well as English as a foreign language.
Having studied in Croatia, England and Switzerland, and having tight research connections with top universities in the US enabled me to get to know different educational systems very well. This allows me to be flexible and work with you on specific exams or prepare you for university admissions.
Physics and Mathematics are my expertise and I am able to support you with them on admission levels: A-level, SAT, PAT, STEP as well as university levels.
Assessing motivation letters, applying for universities (UCAS) and scholarships, and preparing you for admission interviews are also my expertise, which I would gladly help you out with.
I am confident teaching Chemistry and Computer Science upon discussion.
Completed: Natural Science Tripos, B.A. (1st) and M.Sc. (1st), Trinity College, University of Cambridge.
Current: PhD at the Laboratory of Metal Physics and Technology, ETH Zurich, Switzerland.
