I have more than twenty years experience of teaching Biology from upper primary, through secondary to undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have been an examiner for several of the major examination boards.
I enjoy actively involving students in their learning and adapting lessons to individual student needs. I love the challenge of presenting learning in a way that is accessible to each student.

I have always been fascinated by Biology and I love to pass on this passion to others.
My work in Marine Biology gave me opportunities to teach which over time has become my central focus. I love the the thrill of sharing my knowledge with other people and never get tired of the challenge of presenting complex topics so that they are understandable for each individual student.
I love to travel and it has been a privilege to work in a number of countries including India, Iran, Oman, Bahrain and the Caribbean and to teach student from different backgrounds and ethnicities.
I have more than twenty years experience of teaching and tutoring secondary school students, undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have also spent a year teaching upper primary level students.
Whilst working as a Marine Biologist I taught on a Masters course in Tropical Marine Science at Hull University, UK and also devised and ran two courses for marine science technicians at the Marine Science Centre, Muscat, Oman.
In 1999 I undertook a Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education through the Open University UK. I have since taught a in a variety of situations including Biology to A level and Chemistry to GCSE in UK Secondary Schools and British Curriculum schools in Oman, Bahrain and the Caribbean and six years teaching vocational courses in Animal Management as part of the the National Diploma qualification at a UK Further Education College. This college also ran degree courses and I taught Animal Nutrition, Disease Prevention and Parasitology and Research Methods to students studying for a degree in Applied Animal Behaviour and Training accredited through Leeds University.
During my time as a teacher I have tutored students for University entrance examinations as well as for GCSE and A level Biology. I have also supported and advised students with design and implementation of coursework and dissertations.
My approach to teaching is to treat every student as an individual and to adapt my teaching methods to actively engage each student in order to reinforce learning. I put emphasis on good study methods to ensure improved results.
I have taught courses and acted as an examiner for each of the major UK examination boards). I am happy to cover any of the topics in Biology up to A level. At undergraduate level I have a preference for ecological and environmental topics.
This was our last session with Elizabeth - a very thorugh and diligent tutor - Elizabeth has been very thoughtful in doing what was possible in the time leading up to the external exams for the girls. We would recommend Elizabeth very highly.
Always prepared well
Tr Elizabeth was friendly, helpful and detailed with her feedback, and pointed me in the right direction through asking questions that encouraged me to think deeper about my answers. Overall a very fulfilling & insightful session, thank you so much
My 16-year old daughter was very impressed with the way Ms Elizabeth tutored her for biology IGCSE. She said this was the best organised and prepared teacher she has ever had. Besides her very well prepared study materials and efficient way of explaining, Ms Elizabeth was also kind, patient and very understanding. Thanks to those lessons my daughter not only managed to pass her exam but has also learnt how to study.
Tr Elizabeth was time-smart, efficient, and detailed with her feedback & advice. She explained my weak areas to me in detail which was really helpful in preparation for my exam. Thank you so much!
